Gauntlet Club

Post by Dragonfire »

One thing I've learned about this community is that commanders here LOVE a good challenge - the harder the better. The "Iron Adder" immediately comes to mind.

We have tons of missions, of course, but those are subject to our own stats. But what if we had to complete a mission, preset equipment, stats, and all? No, this is not an OXP idea...this is the Gauntlet Club.

The idea of the Gauntlet Club is for members to post challenges with a goal and a pre-set savefile. Then, others accept the challenge (though no one is required to), and try and complete it without editing the save file!

If someone completes a challenge, they post how they did it using the "invisible posting" method. (White text in a quote.)
Like this.
Here's mine to start us off. This'll serve as both the first challenge, and a template for challenges to follow. Anyone up for it?

(If you post a challenge, please follow the format below. New challenges should be posted in blue so they stand out and are easier to find.)

Elephant in the Cargo Hold
GOAL: To dock with a Navy station and purchase a single War Bond.

CHALLENGE: You're a new commander named Winters, and you're flat broke after purchasing a much needed Advanced Space Compass. As you leave the Zaonce station, you realize that some unscrupulous commander with a grudge has emptied your cargo hold and planted several dozen tons of narcotics and firearms there instead.

You want to dock at a Navy station and buy a war bond, which requires a clean record and some money, but now you know that you'll be considered a fugitive next time you dock.

With only a fore beam laser, ASC, ANA, ECM, escape pod, docking computers, and fuel injectors (no cargo scoop!), how do you dock with the Navy Station?

BEGINNING INSTRUCTIONS: You must immediately launch from the station without buying or selling anything.

REQUIRED OXPs: Galactic Navy

Download "Elephant in the Cargo Hold". (Commander Name: Winters)

Cool. I don't know how I'd do it. If money was no problem, I'd jump to G5 and get a cloaking device.
I'll try it.

Ilike the idea, and fancy my chances.

If I copy the string of symbols where do I paste it to?

Okay, I did it:
I did it by high-tailing it back to the station and docking, selling the offending cargo containers, and buying a cheap Coba Mk. 1, a better ship anyway. Because your status is set to clean when you buy a new ship, I docked at the SecCom station and purchased 267 bonds.

Awesome solutions! I'm gonna try out one of my own, too, just to see if it works.
Love the idea of waiting for the right wormhole.

Maybe you should change the rules of this challenge ( or create a pro version), so selling your ship to get clean status is not allowed ?
