Tales from the spacelanes...
Pride goeth before a fall… there I was, in a nasty little firefight in some anarchy system. I splashed four of the five bandits, taking damage and losing the fore shield, and then set about the last one, who lobbed a hardhead at me just before he blew. Somehow, I managed to pick it off with the near-overheated fore laser… so pleased was I with myself at this feat of marksmanship, that I failed to notice the second missile, tracking-in right behind the first, until it was far too late… press space, commander!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

I'm still currently working on my new Contractor AI (for the NPC Bounty Hunter version) and wanted to test their reaction to receiving a distress call, so I waited for one to come along, then gratuitously attacked some poor innocent Mk1 Cobra, who duly obliged by sending out a distress call. The local Bounty Hunter reacted just as I'd hoped and came hairing after me.
He got a few shots off, on-target, so I decided to shoot back!
His response was to launch all three hardheads at me as well as continuing to hit me with the lasers.
I was able to get this screenshot before they hit. Amazingly, I did survive somehow, but the rear shields and about 5 energy banks went down.

Having just completed a nicely profitable run (90cr/t profit), I jumped into the next system on my route. Straight away, I pick up a mayday and hasten to assist… it turns out to be a Smivs ‘tough guy’ Gecko (wtf), getting hammered by five or six Vipers, and bleating for help. As I’m running as an offender, the Vipers immediately turned on me, the rotten lot. I had to evade and jump back out, so as to avoid splashing any Vipers (or them splashing me). I think the damn Gecko got away… last I saw, it was heading off-scan at a rate of knots.
What a game!

So I take Rolling Thunder out for it’s first flight today, and what’s the first bandit I come across… yeah, a ‘tough guy’ Gecko. I had a nasty smile on my face, as I slowly picked it apart, plate by plate. I doubt it was the same one as last night (yeah, I know… of course it wasn’t), but in immersion mode, it definitely was. Feeling rather pleased with myself, I flew through a Torus station, just to celebrate.

I took on a random hits mission which sent me into a nasty system..
I couldnt find the mark for absoloutly ages, and must have killed 30+ pirates while looking.
Finally i find the guy and dispatch him and somehow survive the inevitable pack of asps that followed a few mins later.
So, im busy congratulating myself on a job well done when a very 'easy' offender in a python (i think) turns up on radar... my shields are full and lasers cold so instead of going straight to the station i line up to go toe to toe to duke it out...
after a long blast of lasers hes almost dead. But hes now very close.. so i pull up....
as does my opponent!!
and the last thing i see before (game over) is the python flying serenly through my shattered hull...

Well, I was on jumping from Rabiarce to Ramaza when I mis-jumped into a Thargoid ambush! Luckily there was a Behemoth Class starship and a bunch of Navy Asps to aid me in the fight (I think it was the Tethys). Well, after we turned those bugs to dust, I was going to jump through the nice open wormhole to Legeara that was there. However, it would close in 45 minutes so I had plenty of time to hop on board the Behemoth to refuel. Thing is, when I left, I emerged in Isonza! That nice old Behemoth Captain decided to let me hitch a ride! Now ain't that charitable of him! I owe him a pint of Leestiian evil juice when I see him next!

Then there's always when you're going head on against an opponent, you can see him starting to leak plasma, lasers are going into the red but finally... The big flash and bounty statement.. Right on commander!
And then you collide with his cargo containers or wreckage and end up "pressing space".

[immersion mode]Launched from a high TL station, legal for a change, and loitered around, waiting for a free wormhole. Before long, a Boa and its four escorts launched, jumping away to an anarchy system that just happened to be well along my route. Being in good citizen mode, I decided to escort this convoy through to its destination, and followed them into the cloud.
Emerged in Tileer system, took-up my position close astern of the group, and slowly headed in-system, expecting plenty of trouble. Nope, not a trace of a bandit… only a lone Cobra, that emerged behind us and soon overtook us… a clear, slow run, all the way in. When they were safely in station space, I hit the injectors, streaking past the Boa as close as I dared, and hyperspaced through to my actual destination… and got jumped at the witchpoint, leading to a glorious firefight[/immersion mode]

I had one of my busiest days at 'The Office' tonight. Jumped to a TL4 Anarchy and it was alive with ships. I wasn't counting, but there were groups of pirates everywhere, and a Navy Carrier Battle Fleet! The whole run from Witchpoint to Planet was wall-to-wall combat, and I seemed to be permanently in the middle of it. The run took about 45 minutes.
I managed to salvage over 25 cargo pods plus a few escape capsules, and added considerably to both my funds and kill-rate.
What a brilliant game this is.

I remapped the energy bomb to be the fire missile key + shift. "B" in my case, for bombs/missiles. N and M I use for speed up and slow down, right next to the <> rudder controls and spacebar fire button. This is so I can control all that easily without moving my left hand around. (Right hand's on mouse and/or keypad up/down/left/right keys.)
Since then, I can't say I've hit the energy bomb on accident in quite some time.
