I suspect it's because the Vindicator is 'like_shipped' to the 'cb68_pitviper', in which is defined: ai_type = "pirateAI.plist"; auto_ai = yes; I had those in the Blackwidow's shipdata.plist as well, and found myself up in combat against a pirate in a Blackwidow, even though it shouldn't ...
