Yes, as the password it asked for was what I used for sudo initially. I turned back and reinstalled the version that came with Ubuntu 10.10. I've been playing it, and am right back to where I was in the game before I got rid of the other version. Should I maybe try to upgrade this version instead?

Nah, it's just software. I don't claim to understand it all, but I do know that it can either be corrected, deleted, or redone. It'll get straightened out. Searching for the way to do a clean uninstall right now.

Afaik Ubuntu has the root user disabled by default, and only uses sudo. That suggests your system has been changed by someone. Yeah, I have the r-r-r/rw-r-r in all the ones I have tried to put into the AddOns folder, but I must not be understanding a fundamental step in adding such files. I've been researching, but haven't yet figured it out, but I'm having fun with the game.
