I really like SDC for it's 'immersion', I use it to search for 'particular' ships ( follow ) and to look for ship destinations i can hitch a ride to...

I usually install oxz/oxps manual so that is not a problem, in time will look forward to a new version SDC-light... :)

Optical could work, shadertrickery from A_C, colorize, darkened, overlay.

But what should the engine show underwater, underwater stations? hmm...

So the 'white washing' of basic objects/ships ( objects/ships without a spec gloss map or without a custom shader ) is actually a feature from the improved LM system. ( self realization, duh )
