I was merely being light-hearted! To be more serious: sometimes, an expansion pack has good reason to be large.

Murgh: thank you, and Winston, very much.
montana05: I hope you joke about the next texture! For, as I said above, I have just tightened my belt, so to speak!

Re: Oolite Wiki
I also see a large number of files with lower version numbers that I suppose ought to get deleted in the name of housekeeping. The Extensions Manager can't access older versions, right, so maybe it should fall upon the authors to keep their previous version archive somewhere else? Murgh, perhaps yo...

Re: [Release (sort of)] Extra Thargoids OXP
I thought that I had fixed that error already. Yet, it seems I had not. Apologies. I have uploaded version 6.73 to the Oolite server.

Re: [Release (sort of)] Extra Thargoids OXP
Montana, Are you saying the following? You see that error (the one you mentioned) with version 6.72 of Extra Thargoids (which is, indeed, the latest version). If so, then I am perplexed - and I'll ask: what OS are you using (Windows or Mac or Linux)? I develop OXPs on Windows, and I've version 6.72,...

Re: I'd like some recommendations for some OXPs to instal
Right. But let me add (ahem - advertising - ahem) that the interstellar scenarios that my OXP can yield include the following. - Empty space (or at least empty space nearby . .). - Navy and nothing else (which is fine if you have no price on your head and . . so long as nothing else hyperspaces in)....

Re: I'd like some recommendations for some OXPs to instal
Old Murgh,
If and when you get a very 'iron-ass' ship, you might want to try my Interstellar Tweaks OXP, and force misjumps into interstellar space, and thenget obliterated have fun.

@montana05
Might I refer you to my post immediately above? I think you have a version that is broken and that is not the latest version. So: update.

Re: [Release (sort of)] Extra Thargoids OXP
Cholmondely.
ExtraThargoids: all the recent updates are minor - except for the ones that fix brokenness caused by former 'minor' updates.
ImprobabilityDrive: I was not aware that I had actually ever released a version of that OXP . .

You may know he also has these 3Dprinted items for sale https://www.shapeways.com/shops/aegidian Goodness. It's changed! I last looked a year and a half ago, and it looks as though 50% of the stuff is different. There's some good Oolite stuff in there! Considerable talent seems to be on display, too!

Re: Oolite Wiki
I did not know about that gift shop ('shoop')? Also, someone would have to be pretty keen to wear one of these . . Still, the mouse mat is nice (although the 'view larger' button is not working for me).

Re: Oolite Wiki
A workaround for OXP makers to reduce the size of one's image and/or audio files . For image files , optipng does lossless compression. Another technique for reducing the size of image files - and to be performed before optipng-ing - is to 'posterize' images. That technique reduces the number of col...

Re: Oolite Wiki
Allright, that may be it. But it's still strange when it states upfront "Maximum file size: 8 MB". It is not only strange; it is also a constraint. So the question becomes: can we remove that constraint, or must we work around it? Another question is: why has this problem suddenly develop...
