Re: The Alphabetical Ship List
the three Dragon variants (AN, SE and M) were clickable on the main Dragon page and took you to the 'stub' pages for the ships - the ones with the info boxes. This feature persuaded me that this arrangement was acceptable for my OXP, but does not seem to be working now on the Dragon page. In other ...

Re: Musings about stuff that I could do to the source code..
My mistake. What I mean is, the systems are located on a 256 x 128 grid [...] Gelegeus (253,159) Actually it's a 256x256 grid, but the spacing between grid points is larger in one direction than the other, so 65536 possible positions. And I even provided the evidence to prove myself wrong. I shall ...

Re: Musings about stuff that I could do to the source code..
(Since we are all running on 32-bit machines or better, it may well be that 2,147,483,647 systems per galaxy is possible... which would mean about 655 systems on every point of the 2560x1280 point galaxy!) You have a 2560-pixel wide monitor? Sigh. My mistake. What I mean is, the systems are located...

Re: Cargo name changes from Classic Elite: only in NES port?
I played NES Elite and there are indeed Robot Slaves and Narcotics were renamed Rare Species. As xzanfr mentioned, it is a PC thing. And does the ship still have lasers which are used to kill other pilots? And are kills still awarded? And does one get to Elite by trading food and soft toys to rich ...

Re: Musings about stuff that I could do to the source code..
If system -1 is interstellar space, then the system number is not an 8 bit unsigned integer. That means the 256-system limit is not a fixed limit; there could be up to 32767 systems per galaxy! I don't know about any of that technical stuff, but I know I accidentally created a galaxy with...

Re: Cargo name changes from Classic Elite: only in NES port?
Not sure if this is the right forum to discuss Classic Elite in, but it seemed the closest fit. Others do exist. Expect a link, shortly. Edit: try this one: http://forums.frontier.co.uk/ I discovered that the "Slaves" cargo had been renamed "Robot Slaves", yet remained as illega...

Oh well, I suppose even space-faring Scarabaeoids need to eat.

And there's nothing stopping one from adding another custom view that goes through the centre of the ship and calling it the "Docking Camera View".

Re: The Alphabetical Ship List
SandJ is doing a good job with it so far! :D The following post is very helpful, for lots of ships: Me again! Updates: Falcon.oxp: May have been pushing the 3D engine a little too hard - random crashes. Some changes made... Kestrel+Merlin.oxp's: Since adding all the sub-entities they have been a li...

Re: The Alphabetical Ship List - Well done!
Is anyone interested in the Alphabetical Ship List ? I was thinking of adding links to the ships and the like, but only if people are bothered about it in the first place. Yes, apparently YOU are. Of the 667 wiki changes in the past 6 days: 248 - Fatleaf 191 - Maik 69 - RyanHoots 51 - SandJ 43 - Ci...

That doesn't matter, you are still a hero. You can assemble flat-pack furniture! Unfortunately not as I managed to break the flimsy fitting and had to "supplement the design" with my own screws.... now the doors don't shut properly but at least I can play Oolite in a less cluttere...

Well done. Thank you.maik wrote:It is better now.
That is a fault of the Anaconda page; it should have a separate page for the liner.maik wrote:Also, and some OXPs say something like "Standard, except for ..." which does not register as "Standard". See e.g. the entry for the Anaconda.
