Re: Science Fiction Trivia
I'll grab it before anyone else comes up with a Star Trek answer: in the Star Trek: TNG episode " First Contact ", Riker is surgically altered (i.e. given little forehead lumps) so he can observe the pre-warp civilisation on Malcor III. That's definitely a good example. Four to go! In Exc...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
OK, in one of my previous questions I asked for shape-changing aliens. This time I'm looking for five examples of HUMANS imitating ALIENS on the alien's worlds, ships, space stations or whatever - by shape changing, makeup, plastic surgery, drugs or whatever else might be needed to convince the alie...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
I'm guessing that the Asimov reference you're after is the Earth becoming radioactive and uninhabitable at some point between the first two robot books and the founding of the Galactic Empire in the Foundation series. The trouble is that if I recall correctly that turns out to be a deliberate act of...

Re: Too Many Fonts
Forgot to say that I did as Commander X suggested. Does seem to be some speed improvement. Microsoft Office made me run a repair rather than just telling me fonts were missing, apart from that I've had no problems.

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
Another one I found by accident - I thought I remembered a Superman story with an atomic-fuelled villain created by a reactor accident - couldn't find that, but did find Pozharnov, a small, abandoned city in Russia evacuated after a 1987 meltdown and later used as an alien base for an invasion of Ea...

If a meltdown counts: Turnmill Nuclear Power Station near Cardiff, in Torchwood . Re: Science Fiction Trivia
There was also a 1965 Poul Anderson novel, The Corridors of Time, which had literal tunnels going to the past and future with "gates" a few months wide opening every few years if you knew how to enter them.
