Re: Science Fiction Trivia
The book category is still wanting, but remember I'm looking for one that's not commonly found in the other formats listed. Also a stage production, or in the absence of that, a good second answer in one of the other categories will be accepted. This makes things a little tricky, because every book...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
ok, for radio i propose Hitchikers guide to the galaxy. Arthur dents village is "invaded" or visited by the alien Ford Prefect. Then the Vogons turn up and things get hectic... BUT before they turn up ford has ben on earth for quite a few years. Nice try. Reminders. A second answer will b...

Re: OoliteStarter
A couple of observations. (back on my well-lived in Linux setup) I've just updated to the latest dev build of Oolite. Starter noticed something had changed, but I see no easy 'refresh this entry' button to simply update the version. I could copy and paste it somehow, although there's no --version ar...

Re: OoliteStarter
Ah!! Looking at my somewhat more weathered Linux setup, we're talking about the 'manually installed' addons! On Linux by default (for me) it's $HOME/GNUstep/Applications/Oolite/AddOns So... Does that have a default location on the Mac, and if so, should it not get pre-populated by starter? I'm uncle...

Re: OoliteStarter
WIlco. When I''m sure of the situation above. Also.. does 1.90 take that args to load save games on the other platforms? I've not tried it. See here: https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?p=291772#p291772 This is a strange error. Could you post your $HOME/.oolite-starter.conf? <AddonDir/> This is w...

Re: OoliteStarter
I think Catalina will have to be put out to pasture soon-ish, though for now, what gets built there ought to work for that "and up", whereas building on 'latest' will often have backwards compatibility issues. Yes, the best we can do right now is to mention it in the readme. Feel free to a...

Re: OoliteStarter
The positive side of being offline was that I checked OoliteStarter and the build process' behaviour when no network resources are available. And yes, there was room for improvement. This latest build will behave meaningful if oolite.space is not there: - No OXPs can be installed - but you can stil...

Re: Cockpits, HUDs and other displays
https://i.imgur.com/2Lsh2mP.jpeg Now this is really cool. Although I am hoping the touch display would be bigger than one single button... Just the two clicky switches on that board. It is really too small for touch. It's a doddle to add keypads, switches, sensors, rotary knobs etc. There is a slig...

Film: Slither (2006) - alien worm creatures land on a meteor and take over a small American town by spreading through the drains and infecting the locals. Comedy horror which ends with the scene everyone expected at the end of Alien. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slither_(2006_film) https://upload....

<lowest hanging fruit> Stargate SG1, season 6 episode 5, Nightwalkers. The short description is that the small town of Steveston, Oregon, United States, is implanted with cloned Goa'uld, which turn out to still keep their "ancestral memories", and start driving their hosts to build a spac...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
Right. Here's my first stab at this. Localised alien invasions. I want five examples of alien invasions/incursions which are set on Earth, and limited to a village or town, with no or little knowledge outside that community during the invasion/incursion. To make that a shade harder, I want one each ...

Paging Mr. Fibble... Tentacles and aliens.... The Untamed. Not a sci-fi as such. Not going to bother with a picture 'cos we've done that topic. So bad they're good: Bad Taste, Meet the Feebles, Braindead, The Frighteners. The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension Cockneys vs. Zombi...
