Re: Weapon Laws OXZ
Thank you. I've finally got it, and have been playing around with it. A believable addition to the Ooniverse. Thank you! NB: It does not nobble the Vimana beam laser which comes with Gnievmir's VimanaHUD (15,000cr for a cool running military laser with slightly reduced range and seems to sell jolly ...

Re: Weapon Laws OXZ
How does one gets one's grimy paws on a version which works with Oolite 1.88?

Re: Retro, Commander …
I guess we can now be sure, if there ever was any doubt, that Drew betrayed Oolite for E:D  Quite candid to see him not recalling most "elementary" keys, and the fact that Oolite actually has yaw (by default mapped on "," and "." -- for keyboarders this is a f...

Re: Oolite Wikipedia - some issues
Thank you! Other matters: i) Chrysopelea MK-I and other ships are listed under 'orphaned' pages in the wiki special pages list. But they are linked in on the Oolite ships page. What does 'orphaned' really mean? ii) I want to put a link on the Complete Ship List wiki page to the Category:Oolite ships...

Re: Popularising Oolite in Different Languages
Here's the introductory text - just in German, Spanish, Portuguese & Russian (I can provide the others) - from Oolite.org. Does this translate better? How much time would it take to properly polish up the Googletranslate version of this? German Über Oolite Unter den sieben Billionen Menschen, di...

Re: Popularising Oolite in Different Languages
How many of us actually read Mr. Gimlet before playing Oolite? Is reading of such 'flavour text' more or less common these days as a determinant of whether or not to try a game? IMHO cim wrote a 'blurb' - short, sweet and to the point. Disembodied wrote a preface - no less good but much less short ...

Re: Popularising Oolite in Different Languages
As I said, Disembodied's style is top notch. It is fun. It is readable. It is very informative. But I'm unsure as to how it gets translated by a computer. There are many nuances - and as a monoglot Brit I have no idea how well Google Translate puts them over - if at all. Hence the reason for my post...

Re: Popularising Oolite in Different Languages
Cim has a very good style - the rough-speaking stationmaster with his disdain for the new Jameson, the jargon/slang etc . Small correction here: The text you are referring to was written by the the Big D*, not cim. cim wrote the intro text at the front page of oolite.org. * Big D = Disembodied Than...

Re: Popularising Oolite in Different Languages
Just had a first glimpse at it this morning, your German version would be in need of some polishing. All versions will need polishing. Goodness Grief! They were done by a blasted computer! That's not my point. Cim Disembodied has a very good style - the rough-speaking stationmaster with his ...

Re: Popularising Oolite in Different Languages
I assume that the amount of effort involved in successfully transmogrifying Disembodied's Cim's masterful English original into the various languages below is too great to be worth the effort. Am I correct? Please advise! Cholmondeley PS The languages below were chosen by my butler, Benedict. Their ...

Popularising Oolite in Different Languages
There is now a Language page on our wikipedia: http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Language Oolite en Français Oolite auf Deutsch Oolite Italiano Оолит по-русски Oolite en español I'm lucky enough to be English. And therefore I'm pretty much monoglot. __________________________________________________...

Re: I'm new to Oolite
So, with my preference for yaw, I probably am a rather large yellow slimy lizard! I just haven't looked properly in the mirror yet. I'll have to ask Araminta. Benedict is far too demure to ever tell me the unvarnished truth.

Re: I'm new to Oolite
Thank you! Very interesting idea: putting all the navigation keys together like that. I too have found that yaw works better for me than roll - much more instinctive. If I'd had Cody's years of battling across the galaxies in Elite I might well share his predilictions in this matter: but I haven't, ...
