Re: My joystick setup - what do others do?
If you want a realistic Approach... Create individual thrusters in the shipdata plist, then calculate the thrust, ships mass and directed acceleration, then a resulting velocity. But you would end up noticing, that this does not make sense, if you ignore the momentum of moving mass. It's kinda impos...

Re: My joystick setup - what do others do?
So yes banking into turns even makes sense in space, I know I'd prefer even centrifugal force pressing my bum into my seat and not across it. While Banking into turns makes sense on earth, you have to have a look, why this is so. In an aircraft, a turn means acceleration in that direction due to ae...

Re: My joystick setup - what do others do?
Well, why not use yaw.... The pitch / roll comes from aerodynamic based flight mechanics. An aircraft turns by rolling, then the lift force points sideways, making the aircraft go sideways, while the force now pushing against the tail keeps the whole thing straight, effectively resulting in a turn. ...

Re: My joystick setup - what do others do?
I have a joystick about the same size like in the first post. I never got used to that, the thing is far too big. I usually use the lower section of it and steer by using two fingers. Pitch and Roll only. Same for flight simulations. The rest of the work is done on the keyboard. Recently I got a gam...

Re: Parcel / passenger transport
Na, Cody had a bit too much of these Cebetelaian Killer Mountain Esbionoids. Crawling out from that restaurant barely conscious, he wrapped the hole thing in brown paper, put a chord around and stored it away to deliver yet another parcel. Since then he is wondering, who was the recipient and wher f...

Re: Parcel / passenger transport
The cargo Thing is a bit crazy anyway. I'm flying a Cobra MKIII, which has 35t cargo space - extension included. I have 3500 kills, deadly ranking, so I suppose I must be prepared for anything that comes. But no, no one trust me to be able to carry platinum, unless I shipped food and ore through the...

Re: Parcel / passenger transport
What's up with getting parcel reputation ? I've pretty recently delivered a risk 1 and risk 2 contract but still nobody has ever heard of me delivering a parcel (again). Getting cargo contract reputation is much easier (aside from the needed cargo space). For every successful contract reputation go...

Re: Parcel / passenger transport
@ralph_hh: It does matter - every judge should look at the past life! And every civilised law distinguishes between accidental and intentional, but Oolite law doesn't. Adjust Oolite to real life logics then? If our police finds you with some gangsters, shooting guns, you'd be jailed for murder, unl...

Re: Parcel / passenger transport
Ho on earth do you determine if the ASP is a courier? Or a pirate who is yet undiscovered by Galcop? Or a trader? Or an assassin waiting for someone else? Or just a rich tourist having a trip to see space?Cody wrote:Last night, I went to the aid of a fellow courier in an Asp.

Re: Parcel / passenger transport
Which is almost identical to real life down here on earth
If you are not caught, you remain clean forever.
If you are caught, it does not really matter, how long and how much you have been on the good side.

Re: Parcel / passenger transport
Whow. I must confess, I do not have a thing like a conscience in game. I had the faintest doubt when I was assigned to kill a judge once during a Random Hits mission, but apart from that I shoot whatever disturbs my path to the station. Let that be pirates or a clean ships that mass-locks me. Escape...

Ohlala... Whow...  And suddenly the Ooniverse becomes a lot more crowded, hostile and exciting. *press space commander*... Can't tell how many groups of bad guys were after me, when chasing the last surviver of the first group, a clean friendly group lined up behind me. I relied on th...

Re: Parcel / passenger transport
Hm... I'm currently at Xeines, that bottleneck in Galaxy 3. There and at the Anarchy system before was quite some action. But.. dunno, wasn't someone saying assassins would be distinguishable from the pirates as the assassins would be clean? All hostile groups I met and shot were offenders/fugitives...
