Re: Tales from the spacelanes...

I seem to remember using it as a tactic in Doom and Quake2. Move in such a way that a bad guys fire, hits another bad guy.
Second bag guy gets annoyed and fights the first one.

Never tried it for real in OOlite though.

Ah that sounds like it.

I was aware of the Cargo Shepherd but not the other one.

Thanks.

Deployable Navigation Becon.

Is there an OXP that give you a deployable navigation beacon? For example, say you've found a nice rock hermit in an asteroid field and go off to the station, but you want to easily find it again, you could drop off a beacon that would stay on your compass. I also like the idea of it transmitting a ...

Re: Forum Etiquette

Poor guy has a lot to deal with. I tried to give him a little advice but probably he found everything pretty hard to do given what he had told me. I recommended he write some fiction as I think it would have made a really interesting read. As for etiquette, I have to admit that the older I get the m...

Re: Weird spinning behavior of a station and fuel station.

Just for some background. This is after jumping, then following a trader through it's wormhole. His engine then suffered a provoked fatal explosion, followed by me taking on around 5 pirates. I splashed them all, got their cargo and then flew in system. This is where I encountered the weird Anaconda...

Re: Weird spinning behavior of a station and fuel station.

Hmm think I've just provoked another incident of the subentities going weird. http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p176/maaarcooose/88daafef-3d19-4448-846f-c6e25987f46e_zpsa23a8367.jpg I'll keep it paused, just tell me what commands you'd like me to run in the debug console and I'll give you the resul...

Re: March 15th

I remember seeing a program about colorants and in the early 1900's they would colour kids sweets with red lead.

Re: Multiple machines

I've got c. 100 dual screen PCs in my lab... (So, yes, to answer your question, erm... what was your question again?) If you feel like having a play with Rocks Vis roll and running OOlite on it, I think you would be doing the entire OOlite community a gigantic favour. I've seen a demo of Paraview r...

Re: March 15th

Pretty much every connector is made by Foxconn.

IDE headers in motherboards. DVI plugs and sockets. Most d plugs.

Want to avoid Foxconn? You'll have a job.

Re: What is 'Oolite-y' ?

For me, Elite always made space feel like a lonely dark (no pun intended) place, that you trekked across to find those little islands of (non)humanity and interaction, except when you got ambushed. OOlite just made everything seem so much more populated. There's people like me out there doing the sa...

Re: Combined index - OOfiction and canon, text searchable

Darn my useless spelling ability.

I might have a play with a database later.

The Oolite Cannon sounds good to me.

Re: Multiple machines

So... Anyone got 4 or more monitors and the machines to drive them to play with? I'm going to see if I can have a go with a couple of machines at this one day. It's the monitors and arrangement that could be a hassle. Rocks allows you to run 1, 2 or 4 monitors of a single machine and then you can ar...
