Wait one... Selezen, you don't have Oolite running? How do you test your stuff then? (impressed) I haven't tested a damn thing since I started this. I'm flying blind!! I have no idea if anything will work! I've been relying on reading comprehension for the designing. The scripts I've posted probabl...

I've just added a sample rendering from Wings to the main Oolite page on my site.

http://www.hughesd.co.uk/elite/content/ ... onisla.asp

It's a test of a derelict ship skin.

Folllwing Rxke's feedback on the beacon, I might try and design a better one tonight. When I'm not at work.

OK, i've posted my current versions of the script and shipdata files at my site. That beacon does look like a mine, now you mention it. Mind you, it could be a good deterrant... I've incorporated Giles' comments into the script file. Comments and ideas would be appreciated. I like the idea of all th...

I'm assembling some stuff, right now (AI's mostly) but it's sooooo hot in here (37°C, sigh...) Tell me about it. I have an open window and two fans, but all they are doing is blowing hot air around. (Off, taking a look at Selezen's work) That won't take long!!! Between fixing websites and trying to...

I've set up an area on my site for information and piccies of stuff that I do. You can find it at http://elite.hughesd.co.uk and click on the 'OOlite Devs' link in the menu. Currently it has a piccy of the perimeter beacon I'm working on. A_H, I like the station design. However, will it not be bette...

Giles - thanks for tidying up our mess! And thanks for the response on the PC version's compatibility. I will try and install the alpha tonight (permission from female counterpart pending) and load up the OXP. And in case I forget later, thanks to everyone for the help with this. I'm probably...

I suggest you try the oxp i cobbled together, just to get a feel for its dimensions, it's very well possible to fly through it, even the NP ships do it w/o problems, but i guess the thing's about 200-500 km wide.... (which is still very small, astronomically speaking) Problem I have is that I don't...

OK, in that case, the line should maybe read do = ( "addShipsAt: coriolis 1 psu 0 0 0.1" ); Something somewhere (the Dark Wheel, I think) mentioned that the graveyard is between the planet and the sun. To fly there, visitors leave the planet and head straight for the sun. Hence, the above ...

Coo! Megapost! Ok, graveyard layout. How about 3 types of generic monument? Maybe 50 of each type initially in the graveyard, then that leaves enough space for custom jobbies without pushing the object numbers up too high. That, plus a coriolis station (or maybe a custom station) and the six perimit...

In my meandering ramblings about ELite and control systems, I posited some time ago that the ships in original Elite have a sophisticated computer control system (kinda like fly-by-wire) that takes all the dogwork out of the real-physics flight. The computer handles the acceleration and deceleration...

Ah Vetitician parking meters...I remember them well. I was but a kitten when I saw the first of these lovely, wondrous things. Many years have passed since my last visit, but the parking meters are still clear to my mind's eye even now. The lesser-striped yellow Altor City model is especially worthy...

Well, simple it down a bit, maybe...just the station and some dead ships...

Could be a nice opportunity to design some older ships for the graveyard, though.

What does the Asp Mk I look like, for example... :)

I've always assumed (especially since the dawning of Frontier) that the Elite controls were relativity based. There is real-space movement, but your controls when in combat or whatever control your attitude and speed relative to any nearby bodies. Hence the space bar and slash key (or whatever your ...
