Re: Progress
Thanks. I've fixed it so that if the marker's on the home system when you jump it moves along, but otherwise stays where you put it.

Re: Outerra - 3D planetary engine
That's a bit smoother than ED! It can't be real time, surely?

Re: Progress
In tonight's build... A long time ago, somebody asked for a facility where they could get system information for all the systems along their planned ANA route. So we rustled one up, which worked OK except there was a slight problem - every now and then a planet would disappear, which came as quite a...

Re: Progress
It's been a while since I did one of these. Anyway... In tonight's build, we've got the new mobile external camera for you to play with. In external view mode, engage caps lock and the arrow / yaw keys will rotate the camera around your ship. Holding shift while using the arrow keys will pan the cam...

Re: External View Selection
I've just tidied the code up a bit (removing magic numbers, that sort of thing). We just need to add your laser fix and probably tweak a few parameters and we should be ready to think about merging.

Re: Quote of the week!
I got my leaflet today! I may be too excited about reading that to continue with the external view thing, sorry.

Re: External View Selection
Ah. Yes. That would make for better screenshots, though, as hordes of angry pilots descend on you... The problem with disabling the laser when caps lock is on would be if you forget to put caps lock on (as I'm always doing) and then shoot the station you're lining up for a screenie. We could disable...

Re: External View Selection
That works fine in Linux. I haven't tried it in Windows.
I've fixed the problem with the annoying flickering with some camera angles, so that's one roadblock out of the way. It turns out it was my fault, of coourse.

Re: External View Selection
The camera is now dependent on delta_t to fix the problem mentioned with low-end machines. This does break operation during pause mode, however.

Re: External View Selection
I love the fact that pausing the game does not affect the view manipulation and you can still move around the scene in stop-time. I completely planned it that way, of course. Ahem. I've removed the jump, but I'm not sure I've done it the best way as the view rotates around a point in space above th...

Re: External View Selection
There's an external_views branch up on github. In an external view switch on caps lock, then roll/pitch/yaw using the keyboard to rotate the view and page up/down to zoom in and out. There's an obvious glitch in that the ship suddenly jumps from somewhere near the bottom of the screen to the middle ...
