Re: Military Shield Enhancement

Alternatively, if you wish to award mil shields to a player who doesn't already have them, this could be done by script irrespective of the ship type the player is flying. I don't think so. If an equipment item isn't available for a ship (either through shipyard.plist or through the available_to_al...

Re: More/ larger galaxies

I feel compelled to put in a small reminder:

Elite ≠ Frontier

And Oolite is a recreation of/spiritual successor to Elite.

Re: Split: Difficulty for new players

@ a_c's proposal: I see two problems with this: The proposal as it is currently laid out is ignoring the fact that there is not one, but three lanes in each system. Practically this means that a sunskimmer would naturally approach the planet from the sun and not bother about re-entering the WP-P lan...

Ah, ok so it's not quite true that "without the torus there is no offlane exploit", but without the torus it would be a much more time consuming and dull exploit.

Re: Tales from the spacelanes...

Moreover I really saw the situation many times during development: I added derelict ships before the dock from script (to salvage them instantly), but those scavengers often scooped up my haul in front of my nose! But I never imagined the consequences... :) Which means that this is a bug in the OXP...

Re: [RELEASE] D.T.T. Planet Express 1.0

Nice ship, but you've fallen to the trap of scaling it to human size. So the ship ends up far too small in comparison to the Oolite ships. It's the same size as an Adder. Well, an Adder can accommodate a crew of 1 and has a cargo capacity of 2 (or 5, depending on who you ask). Thus it becomes clear ...

Re: Trunk nightly

*Why is that? Probably because Randomshipnames OXP doesn't recognize their role and they are not declared as pirate victims (which would qualify them for a peaceful name, regardless of their actual role). Solution: make an addition to the conditions in line 829 of the script, just like this: // hun...

Re: Need input/opinions please.

I wouldn't bother so much about how long the ship actually was in Futurama, or bed lengths. Oolite meters don't correspond to human sizes anyway. The crucial point is whether the ship fits into a standard docking bay. In my opinion it should fit, but with not too much headroom. That should lead to t...

Re: More galaxies

The main objection against having more galaxies is still that it would basically just be more of the same. For those who don't know this particular factoid yet: when Bell & Braben went to their publisher, they wanted Elite to have million or billions of galaxies, which would have been easily pos...

Yes, my work laptop. However, that's off-limits for games (and has only on-board graphics anyway, I think).

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous

My card (GeForce GT 330M, inside a 3-year-old MacBook Pro 15' with a 2.4GHz Core i5 processor) isn't listed at all, so the list isn't particularly useful for me. Being on a Mac, I'll have to wait for the final game anyway (and perhaps then some, because I don't expect the Mac version to be released ...

Most readers are not very good at PDF reflow. The notable exception according to some tests that I've read is the Pocketbook Touch Lux.
