Personally, the only pylon weapon I mount is a cascade mine for extreme emergency. The other three pylons hold salvage missiles and a fuel tank, also rarely used. I rely on lasers, evasive injecting, and occasionally turret fire to finish them off.

Couldn't it be precalculated base at least on the station's recorded marketdata? Take it straight from whatever OXP introduced the station?

Can a player ship be like_ship'd to any ship? If there were a way to read/write shipdata.plist on the fly... some combination of a template and a like_ship shipdata entry?

I'm just throwing ideas out. if I'm on the completely wrong track, feel free to say so.

Personally, I would want an approximation of their closest weapon facing temperature, or at least the facing in use. Missiles are not so important to me. A possible point of interest: Aquatics Guardian System, part of the Aquatics OXP by Thargoid. I've been able to have the Guardian system eject two of Shipbuilder's Colonial Viper mk1's instead of the usual drone model. A modified version could be used to have one or more Mamushi for each escort slot.
