A moment of existential angst

I'm currently carrying out a couple of passenger runs in G2, leaving Argezabe (I like earthquakes and cats, although don't call them that - their claws are quite sharp). I suddenly realised as I spun out of dock - I don't eat! Perhaps I'm a thief - I grab a few sandwiches out of the food containers ...

I think the scanner actually shows the scoopable stuff qutite well, especially when zoomed. Even if this were posible, Im not sure that it would really help to illuminate small objects, I think they tend to be pretty well lit by the sun anyway so Im not too sure that you would see much of a differe...

OXP Equipment suggestion / request - spotlights

For when you find yourself in a low light system, and you've just obliterated a fat juicy Python, and there's lots of cargo canisters floating around, only you can't see them until you're right on top of them. I'd envisage the spotlights to be multiple visible light lasers that shine on the availabl...

Re: Cheating!

... running away and firing out of the back of your ship... I'll confess to using that strategy as a technique to better the odds when I'm outnumbered. I've got to admit that I've wondered why a faster ship sits at about 12km aft and lets me snipe at it with my Mil laser. And not that I'm complaini...

Although my computer would totally choke on this, It would be great to see a collection of dockable objects in the 'outer suburbs' all lined up like the Vegas casino strip...casino, con-store, Monks, science station (allows you to buy high tech objects at low tech systems...i don't know, I just made...

Welcome! I've found everyone pretty friendly around here (I'm sure you'll get the official greeting shortly) I, like many here, played Elite way back on my first computer - A Commodore 64....back in mid 80s. Can't remember what rating I got to..probably Dangerous or Deadly... Oolite is a faithful re...

Just a short follow-up. I've converted to using mouse control. Fine control problem solved!

Another way of looking at uber ships, using an F1 analogy. F1 cars go fast, but they are expensive - not only to buy but also to maintain. In Oolite, is there control over maintenance fees? Could an uber ship actually be too expensive to maintain? Or maybe an uber ship could be thought of as a holid...

Keyboard shortcut for docking / fine control

Hi everyone, a quick question here (that's probably already been answered but I can't seem to find). When I configure joystick controls, I see the option for mapping a button to give fine control (useful when docking etc). I've yet to find a way of creating a keyboard shortcut to do the same. Is thi...

Problems downloading source

Hi, long time elite player, new oolite player, first time poster (on this bbs anyway).. I'm trying to download the Oolite source files because I'd like to try my hand at making some modifications but I'm having problems. I've downloaded the Subversion application and have attempted to run the comman...
