Re: Will Oolite survive with the release of Elite Dangerous?

Other than being space sims that explicitly inherit from the legacy of Elite, the two games feel really different, in terms of flight model, universe, style, ... there's definitely room for the two of them, and No Man's Sky looks set to be quite distinctive as well what with the whole procedural eco...

Re: Citadels of Chaos

In Oolite I tend to find the anarchies rather quiet and safe. Yes you might find some baddies with a military laser, but with decent shields and witchdrive injectors you can survive quite easily. For epic space battles, rich industrial democracies/corporate states seem to be a far better bet. You te...

Re: Oolite: misjumpier

Re jumping to a different system - misjumps always seem to come out between the origin and target system; you'd think there'd be an occasional over-run that dumps you out a light year or two beyond the target system! Or maybe even going backwards depending on just how rusty the witchdrive is...

Allow yaw to be mapped to joystick buttons as well as axis

Right now I have a somewhat more basic joystick (Logitech Attack 3) than seems typical when using flight games. I would love to use it with Oolite but apparently I'm only allowed to map yaw to an axis, which isn't really a possibility as this joystick basically only has two axes plus a slider-type t...

Re: You picked the wrong client

Do you have Communications Pack A installed? I think the "you picked the wrong client" stuff and quite a lot of the other banter comes from that, it's parsing your contracts and status etc. including endless variations on "You shouldn't work for xxx yyy" and others, such as &quo...

Aha! Good to know it's an actual mechanic not something I've managed to corrupt in the game's config...

You picked the wrong client

Not sure if this is a bug or not, so I'll put this here for now... Doing a few of the parcel deliveries, every so often I get ambushed at the witchpoint by people who don't seem to like the client. So far so good, I like having the opportunity to keep my combat reflexes up to scratch. One thing I no...

Re: BBC keys in 1.80

Thanks, I know where the file is and how to edit it.

I was asking about the 1.80 compatibility of the files that are already floating around, before I go messing around in there myself. No point duplicating work that has already been done, if it has already been done.

BBC keys in 1.80

Hi, apologies if this is a really stupid question or has been answered before (my searches didn't turn up anything relevant). Is there a 1.80-compatible version of the BBC keymap available anywhere, or does the version on box.com (second link here ) work fine? Thanks for all the work that's been put...

Re: Constrictor mission hints

Hi, as far as I'm aware I don't have any OXPs that affect the Constrictor mission, I only had Sunskimmers, Ore Processor and BBC Micro keys installed.

Constrictor mission hints

Hi there. I used to have an account on these boards but I think it got lost during the hack, certainly I can't get the password recovery thing to accept the username and email address, so thought I might as well have a change of identity. Definitely been a fan of Elite for a while, learned the basic...
