Re: Her Imperial Majesty's Space Navy
Are you back on the bridge, jefe? I'm around, but life is pretty busy (more so than usual). I'm probably not going to be of very much use for a while, but I will try to "respond" to hard kicks on my shins. I have also had a crash on my gaming PC, which now has been reinstalled with a bran...

Re: Her Imperial Majesty's Space Navy
GalCop and HIMSN resources are spread thinly trying to repel the Thargoids from Co-Operative space. So even if the player did encounter the Thargoids they kind of have their hands full to be able to do anything about it. HIMSN will engage and protect civilians if they encounter Thargoids attacking ...

Re: Her Imperial Majesty's Space Navy
This is just a small flavour thing: After contact with thargoids, the next time a player docks a "Press Space" screen could pop up with the message "HIMSN has received your report on Thargoid movements in <current system> and thanks you for your assistance." Again certainly poss...

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous
In one of those Michael Brooks said that he considered a true 4 core CPU running at 2GHz as a minimum for running the game well . Quad core is the minimum spec, anything under that is likely to be unplayable. Michael That's the thing, ain't it - running the game well . I see those claims too, and I...

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous
Pissed as hell because it turns out the specs (those with quad core) that have been oft-quoted are recommended , not minimum, and people have been quoting them as minimum. If I had known, I'd have bought the beta, and now it's too late, not to mention I don't have 35 pounds on hand. :twis...

Here you go.
And then it spreads out to several other threads. A search for Jellybabies on the forum is needed to get a good overview.

Re: Griff's normalmapped ship remakes
The game loads oxz-files from oxp-folders, no need to unzip oxz-files. Unless you want to tweak them of course. I have Staer9ShipsetShadedv1.2.oxp and inside that Staer9ShipsetShadedv1.1roles179.oxz. Works just fine. I don't unzip them, but I use nested folders to keep related OXZ's together (which...

OXPs that will not be converted:- Jellybaby Dispenser This one has had its day, I'm afraid, and will not be converted. Please let me have your thoughts. Thanks, Smivs  I firmly believe that the tribute to arguably the biggest derailment of a thread in the history of this forum should remain a...

Re: Griff's normalmapped ship remakes
<Starts mental preparation for ripping out the Griff bundles and replacing with singles> Did that the other day - my Griff.oxp now contains thirty-five items. No such meta-folders possible with OXZs, methinks. I think I tested that. Possible if you install OXZ's manually I belive? Can't test now, I...

Re: Griff's normalmapped ship remakes
I guess I should think about making OXZ's of these, i'll have a look through the guide that was posted up a while back - would there be any need for a bundle OXZ or should we get rid of that now - it's a hassle to keep updated as it's such a massive upload I would actually prefer that there is only...

Re: Elite : Reclamation (Novel)
Received the book, and just in time before I go on a 3 week exercise where I'll have some spare time in the evenings to read. Also, thank you for the mention in the book Drew. I have to admit that a bit of nostalgia came over me and I just had to reread the posts here on the forum leading up to your...

Re: Griff's normalmapped ship remakes
<Grabs a beer and waits for Cody to post results...> The man from Del Monte, he say Yes! I had to edit several fragments in the late-model OXP, but it looks fine now, with no errors. Yes, great, we are getting somewhere. I wonder why it wouldn't work with Griff's newer Cobra though? User error, pro...
