My cargo always gets distroyed when I discharge it too. This happen in cobra MkIII, python and supercobra. I've also noticed being able to scoop more cargo than I can hold. If I get something caught in the tractor beam and then collect something else, I collect both even if it takes me above the lim...

Do people do the long haul routes. The margins alway seem a little slim to me. I just experimented with doing one, it didn't go well. I was contracted to move some computers about 30 ly or so. Since I had some free space in the hold, I figured I could trade along the way so I bought some more comput...

mining laser fun and games
A couple of times recently I've been in a battle and either forced somebody to eject and then gone after the escape pod before returning to blow up the ship and scoop cargo, I figure I'll keep the cargo in one place while I go 'rescue' it's owner. It's fun to go back to a dead ship and blast it at m...

Well mine as in it's on my desk and people have to ask me if they want to run jobs on it . Not mine as in I don't actually own it and I don't have the root password. The sys admin has set it up so I can type sodu and do things like reboot it and format HDDs on it but that's about it. Trying to insta...

Thanks, oolite hasn't appeared in the menu. I think that's to do with the fact that I don't have admin access. I think I read that someplace. I managed to run oolite from the command line. It's jerky though. Perhaps I don't have openGL drivers for my graphics card? Can I install those without admin ...

key code for =
I've remmapped most of my keys the way I want apart from the "next target" key which is '+' by default. I want it to be = so that I don't have to press shift to do it. I tried using the ascii for = but that didn't work. Now I can't select next target at all, only previous. Does anybody kno...

the good nes is I found it. It's in ~/l.local/lib/Oolite/oolite.app The bad news is if I navigate to that directory and run ./oolite I get ./oolite: error while loading shared libraries: libSDL_gfx.so.13: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory So I'm guessing the installer didn't ...

Help an idiot install Linux oolite
I thought I'd give linux oolite a go since windows oolite has a couple of bugs and my linux box is much more powerfull than my windows machine. To proove my idiocy, I shall admit that I dont' know what type of linux install I have. The login screen says fedora core so that's a start but I don't know...

Messages not fading
Fairly frequently, I get messages that don't fade but continue to scroll up the screen to just past half way. To clear them, I have to generate a bunch of mesages by, say changing views untill the offending message has scroled off screen. It can be annoying if I'm in a fight and can't see my cross h...

Wow. That was an interesting read. I completed the Constrictor mission at the weekend, before stumbling over here. I read something over on an original Elite site that mentioned this mission, where it said the Constrictor is impervious to the energy bomb. Er, that's how I destroyed it. First time I...

To dock, I aligned myself to fit thorugh the whole in the front of the ship, slowed to a dead crawl and as soon as I started to colide, I rolled by 90 degrees. From reading Littlebear's post, i assume if I'd aligne myself with the slit, I'd have hit the ship and died? BTW, I'm in a python so I might...
