It also reduces the amount of collision testing that needs to be done, and improves the resolution of collision testing when it is done. (Try enabling octree display – “console.debugFlags ^= 0x80” in the JS console – with both versions of the TransHab.) ... okay, okay, so my TransHab sucks focussin...

*chuckles quietly, a delighted sparkle in the corners of his eyes* My word... my humble little offering is still popular? Well I never. It makes me feel very honoured... and I am glad that you enjoy the experience of the encounter. The Generation Ship was designed to have that hugeness. There'd be n...

and finally the head. All in all, the head changed the least. They built 'the head' last!!!! There must have been thousands of desperate workmen up til that point. Or lots of accidents and laundry loads....... *grins* SOP for starship construction. If you look at the blueprints for the Ente...

I hadn't realised the scale was so large... 70km is enormous. Was 'Rama' that big? I can't remember. I wonder how you manufacture something like that! With lots and lots and lots of smaller bits.....:D *grins* Much as the model was built :) One section of cylinder-and-gantry was constructed and the...

Looks great, awesome! Thank you! :D However as to the model itself I have some questions, especially as far as these huge parabola antennas are concerned. (1) What are they for? They are pointed roughly forward, so they are not meant as a means of communication with the ship's origin. This would re...

For those who might be interested, I've posted an animation of my Generation Ship up on YouTube.

You can find it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aA-PNr6dQg8. I would value any comments and criticisms you might have. :)

Drew... thank you. I'm honoured that my work inspired you to such writing. This is the first time I've been on the Oolite site since... oh, not long after I uploaded the GenShip and TransHab station OXPs. I received the notification that there was a new message, and this is what I found. I'm speechl...

I could probably find you some HQ B-7 grabs from somewhere. One comment is that the two equatorial bands of the Liberator should really stand slightly proud and - oh, blast it, here you go. http://content.answers.com/main/content/wp/en/7/77/BlakeLiberator.jpg That's about the best I can do at zero n...

Jesus wept, Selezen!

That is awesome. And I mean that most sincerely.

Pardon me while I bow down to you. Makes my stuff look cheap and tacky by comparison.

Wow.

I just ran FFE out of curiosity and had a quick jump out to Saturn in my Thargoid fighter ;)

The rings are generated as concentric circles of unit thickness, for obvious reasons. I wouldn't worry about it too much, David :)

I've installed the new experimental PC version but I'm having some serious problems with it. Since I want to see about getting my containers OXP to work, I need to buy a ship with some trading space as my Firewasp has no cargo bay. So I buy a Cobra Mk3. Hitting F1 to launch - which launches in my Fi...

I like the idea of ice planets, but they might require more GFX nous than I have to get them shiny. Isn't there a value you can set which determines the reflectivity of a surface? In BlitzBASIC 3D, my standard devkit, there's an Entity Shininess command which does that. I'm also dying to see the ne...

You should get yourself a CafePress account and publish this as a paperback! I'd buy a copy. I'd recommend Lulu over CafePress. Lulu has more flexible printing options than CP. I'll happily offer my services as proofreader, editor and/or designer... having done all three and with some small experie...

... or an extremely rich organisation such as DRACOrp... which could build them and lease-lend them out to whoever could afford them...

Reminds me of that line about the Heart of Gold in H2G2... about the price: "It's a 1 with a pageful of zeroes after it..." :D
