One sound could be the console quoting Shakespeare at you:

I am constant as the northern star!

followed by the 'player' growling

I'd give real money if he'd shut up!

:D

Yeah, that's what I meant.

I know it would need a code change, but I wondered if it might be worth it.

I want it to hyper out, but without actually appearing anywhere at the other end.

AFAICT all the hyperspace commands require the ship to jump to somewhere. I just want it to jump...

It's easier when the space is around you, you can 'feel' it a lot better for real than in a simulator :)

I didn't like to mention them... ... because I'm sure I'd be accused of being picky and persnickety. The occasional typo is understandable and forgivable :) But perhaps the text could be tidied up just a little before it's posted. There's little worse than dodgy spelling and eccentric punctuation to...

Hah! :D

It works, yes... but it would be nice for there to be a witchspace jump flash :)

*laughs*

Thinking of a discussion elsewhere on the forums, perhaps when you launch a missile your console should say in the voice of Bugs Bunny or Daffy Duck, "Of course you realise this means war..."

Not just that but speed will blueshift incoming radiation to the hard end of the EM spectrum, and space dust will happily leave little holes in your hull and the crew :D

As long as they don't quote Space Corps directives, I think we'll be fine :D

Bugging out using AIs

Would it be possible to make an AI function that just bugs a ship out if it's under attack, without actually making it go anywhere? I want to write an AI that just makes a ship disappear but it won't wormhole itself. Also, the only AI commands I can see make it search for a destination before it wit...

*grins* I've written both, and they're both fun to do. One thing about the instalment method, though, is that it prompts you to keep writing... and it challenges you to keep your audience engaged ;) On the other hand, writing all at once means that you can go back to improve things, change things to...
