Re: blast from the past
Actually, a ship so uber that it probably hasn't been matched since was at the very beginning of the uber-line. It is only so obscure that most people here on the board may never have heard of it. It's called Uber Mk.1337 (the NPC Uber HAX0R ) and came in the imaginatively named uber.oxp. LOL. I've...

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I see value in cargo runs, which is why I want them more likely to be taken. I pulled the SVN from berlios, spent a couple hours scratching my head about Cocoa syntax (never done it before), then added the following: // determine the destination int contract_destination ...

Offer more plausible contracts
I'm guessing this is a carryover from OgElite, but having straight random destinations means that most of the choices will be 10+ hops away. Those are absurdly long hauls for very little pay (especially after subtracting fuel costs). BTW, does anyone here honestly consider them worthwhile? First is ...

speaking of rock hermits...
...is it possible to have passengers or contracts with a rock hermit as the destination?
Also, adding my $0.02 in favor of a wider variety of minor missions popping up. Flying trade back and forth 1000x just doesn't do it for me.

gradually expand your defensive and offensive equipment... Hurm. The problem is that even if I had better equipment, I don't have any feel how to dogfight here. Whereas in Escape Velocity I felt pretty comfortable surviving a pirate or two with my initial low-end shuttle after just a few minutes of...

Newb question: how not to get killed constantly?
Hi everybody! (Hi Dr Nick!) So, I figure I know Elite-type games on Mac (Universe2 circa 1990, EV:O circa 2000) and I'm okay at Freespace2 (3D space shooter). Therefore Oolite looks like a good bet ... except that I find myself completely flummoxed by the standard pirates. I can't outrun them, I can...

borrow from Freespace2 perhaps?
Hi, new guy here. Just want to mention the "orb radar" from FS2_Open . Also FS2's HUD in general: target selection, tracking brackets, auto-match speed, etc. If someone could combine that sort of flight interface with Oolite's nonlinearity and extensibility, it would earn the people's ovat...
