The ship-buying crash is there since 1.69.1 and has to do with your current ship having subentities. @Ahruman: I would guess, as both are involving playership's subentities, it's related to bug 011686 , probably using the same underlying buggy routine, and crashing in that. Still there in 1.71-1271...

Memory leaks also, some diagnostics
Sometimes i get one of those, too (latest dev binary 1.70, RHEL5, GoFX5200).
Before things get FUBAR (all memory is allocated, everything is painfully slow) i usually get several of:

Re: New computer
Oolite with full shader effects at 100 fps at better-than-HDTV-resoltution > Oolite with simple shader effects at 25-50 fps at worse-than-HDTV resolution. Oolite remaining at 100 fps while flying past a Shady Billboard >> Oolite dropping to under 1 FPS when doing so. :-) Anyway, I may be somewhat b...

Caution: This may crash your system. You could try renicing the game. ie increase the priority it runs at. Obviously other stuff will slow down and if you overdo it all sorts of problems could crop up. First thing to try is running glxgears. See what frame rate you get. For comparison, on an Athlon...

Hey all, Thought I'd resurrect an old thread. In the spirit of wasting money and adding a little flavor to the Navy OXP, I'm adding the option to buy war bonds (offered randomly). I think there should be some benefit to buying them, however. I thought about implementing a counter and after you purc...

My ship is hard enough that if a missile hits it only takes about half a shield away. So if it's a hardened missile i generally just let it hit. Surely an anaconda would have even bigger shields? But this is a brainstorming here. And as with all brainstorming, a lot of the specific ideas are not feasable at second view, or have to be adjusted and balanced out. And here I find myself in the same line with you, as both of us e.g. feel that 0.5 million credits for a private station/mothership ...

Re: Too much money
I've just reached 500,000 Credits (and a ship worth nearly 400,000). This means I can buy Q mines for fun and zip about the place using extra fuel tanks instead of bothering to buy it at the much cheaper price at the station. So should there be something frivolous to spend all this excess cash on? ...
