Hm, I tried to test the new external view with my Cobra Mk III but it does not seem to work. Pressing the v-key accomplishs nothing. Edit: Never mind, my first download was not 1.65 but 1.62. I downloaded the .dmg again and now all is working. Seems that one of the links given on the download page i...

No, they are there. I have not seen a trumble cannister since I had started to play the game, but then suddenly a few days ago they began to appear in the debris of destroyed pirate ships.

In the good old days of original Elite, there were no navigation beacons. Since sometimes they vanished in Oolite (there must be horrible pilots …), this is the technique I used in Elite and sometimes even today: When you approach the station, try to keep it on on your right or left side of the scre...

Gas costs a lot there
Yes, but gold, platinum and gem-stones cost only a fraction of there price at normal stations.

Since Federation und Empire are not part of the original Elite, but of its sequels, it would be a little bit strange to introduce them now in Oolite (IMHO). The onyl organisation you have affairs with is GalCop, neither the Federation nor the Empire, so it is hard indeed to gain ratings with them.

I second that. Since I am playing this game with my keyboard since the good old C64, it is very cumbersome to adjust to a new way of steering the ship.

I think i remember reading in the FE2 (or was it FFE?) manual that the escape capsule was installed over the ship's command and control bridge. I think it specified that only one person (the commander) was to use it since he would be in the control seat anyways. It was in the original manual as wel...

About Escape Pods and Crew Members ...

Some unrelated thoughts I had recently playing Oolite: 1. We players are very lucky since every time we use an escape pod there seems to be no ship in the vicinity scooping our pod up and selling us into slavery ... 2. In original Elite every ship has a number of crew men stated in the original flyi...

I find it quite practical for docking your ship when yourself are in a hurry and have to go and you are only waiting for the docking to safe your game. Then skipping the docking procedure is a relief. But normally I prefer to dock myself or to use the computers.

Why not? AFAIK, all ships count, wether they are destroyed in defeding yourself and others, or in an act of piracy.

No. For scooping you get nothing, you have to sell the Alien Items to make any money.

Speed isn't everything, esp. in big fights, I find myself slowing down lots of times, (and then accellerating again,) sometimes even coming to a complete stop, when one of those smaller ships start to circle me, when you have a ship that's agile enough, you can then easily get them on your twelve.....

Wasn't this bumping into the navigation beacon fixed in some earlier version of Oolite? As far as I remember, it was quite common just after the introduction of the navigation beacon, but then was fixed in a later patch since the protests on all GalCop planets became more and more vicious ...
