Re: How to Oolite Starter?
Mac x86_64 builds of hoopsnake.8 are up on github now. And as Cholmondely rightly pointed out, the Mac situation with starter is not as all-singing as on the other platforms. Until a new build of Oolite is conjured for the Macs, saved-games cannot be 'pushed' to Oolite on launch. The current Mac Ool...

Re: The Wiki is down
A quick poke around... It pings, but a prod with netcat hints that TCP is not routed to it, or is dropped in an unusual way. $ nc -vz wiki.alioth.net 443 nc: connect to wiki.alioth.net (109.70.41.29) port 443 (tcp) failed: No route to host Conventional 'traceroute' shows nothing of note to me, howev...

Re: Planetfall 2.0 (apparently)
PLANET ROTATION COSMETICS v1.1 Odd. Using the in game expansion manager I see v1.1, but attempting to download it I get "Downloading Planet Rotation Cosmetics : Unknown of Unknown", and the download never completes. Info shows tags 'null'. Double odd. Starter shows a size of 1.4k. I selec...

Re: Planetfall 2.0 (apparently)
What you are looking for is PLANET ROTATION COSMETICS v1.1 which is a companion OXZ to Planetfall 2. It slows a Planet's rotation the closer you get to the surface. The Landing Site Markers will therefore visually stay over a specific surface location for a longer period of time. As for the Landing...

Re: Planetfall 2.0 (apparently)
I may have read about this above, but may have overloaded my wetware and forgotten... Using latest PF2 (of course!), and Povray planets, I've noticed that the landing sites do not seem to have fixed locations relative to the surface. I'm headed toward one, and it's got the map moving at a rate under...

Re: Resurrecting the Mac build
If you are getting familiar with the code maybe you could have a look at game startup. On Windows and Linux you can run oolite -load <savegame> and Oolite would load and start that savegame. It does not work on the Mac version but is an important feature for using OoliteStarter. I suspect the root ...

Re: Attempting to get 1.91 built on Mac
For those using emulation: what tools, resources, etc. do you use? I'm familiar somewhat with tools like virtualbox and qemu, and have used qemu on linux for example to boot and play with old dos versions. But I've never run MacOS in any emulator. For those who do this, what works for you? I'm runn...

Re: Introduce Yourself.
Hi - returning to Oolite after an enforced break... don't think I've ever introduced myself though.. Rob - started playing Elite on the old ZX Spectrum back in the day, got all the way to deadly but never lasted the whole course.. discovered Oolite several years ago, had it installed on my PC for a...

Re: Unresolved Issues with the Mac version of Oolite
Thanks for the pointer. Who / what builds the Mac releases for download on oolite.space? On which Mac OS, with which Xcode version? The Mac builds haven't happened for quite a while. Not properly since 1.90. You may be able to glean some clues from the github build scripts. phkb was trying to get a...

let's have FIVE other stories / films / comics / whatever about attempts to kill historical figures - and NOT Hitler, or anything from Doctor Who since I've used that for my example! Red Dwarf S7 e01 : Tikka to Ride An attempt to kill JFK is foiled by the boys from the Dwarf, who knock Lee Harvey O...

Re: dpkg-buildpackage and obsolete library files
I think there is one more item to look at. Despite we package some libraries through linux-deps and the installer Oolite tries to use the Ubuntu 22 (compile system) provided version. So at build time there is something to fix. Indeed. I've just done a clean install to determine my changes. libgnust...

Re: dpkg-buildpackage and obsolete library files
Sounds great for me. First figure out which libs are required/cleanup the linux-deps repo. Then think of additional packaging. Deb is one choice. Fatpack, appimage and snaps could be more. :D When calm and fed, I'll compare what's in my Mint 22 $HOME/GNUstep/Applications/Oolite/oolite-deps/lib with...
