I use a Logitec Wingman Extreme Digital 3D through USB (It is a gameport model, with a USB adaptor) just fine with Oolite. It doesn't quite allow me to get my ship all the way out to the edge of its limits (Meaning that to miss-jump, I have to use the keyboard) but it is VERY playable for me. I woul...

As far as graveyard-location is concerned: I think you can find it via your compass. If not, then just fly around a bit. (And of course you'll never going to find it if you're anywhere else than Tionisla (or haven't installed the OXP).) I know in my version of TGY (which may be quite old by ...

In general, an easy enough install command would be cp -a oolite.app $GNUSTEP_SYSTEM_ROOT/Applications ; for a system-wide installation (root privileges likely required) provided your GNUstep environment is set up properly. Then, you can simply 'openapp oolite' to run the program. If you want to ins...

Linux does run on the DC. And Linux supports GNUstep... Ergo, it should be possible to get Oolite up and running on a DC.

I remember this being the case in c64 elite, where boas and anacondas would launch worms and sidewinders as escort fighters. I believe this behavior was also present in Christian Pinder's "Elite: The New Kind"

That RPG sounds fun. Is it an online thing - If so post the link!! Or is this D&D style dice and real world stuff? My wife just about tolerates real world poker schools, but might draw the line at an 80 style Oolite D&D evening. "You role a one, your python is reduced to 5 shield point...

Well, I got my reply from Cafepress I apologize for the missing item from your order. During the printing of your order, we discovered problems with the image used for one of the products. As a result, Status Quo Book (product #83694981) was not able to be produced. I have notified the shopkeeper wh...

I've ordered my copy from CafePress.... It was in an order with one other book, Unfortunately, when my package got here today, I was rather disappointed to find that Status Quo was no where to be found within the box. I called CP, and all they told me was that they would get back to me when they fig...

tomythius: All this time, I thought it was just me. I've always had the same issue myself. In 1.62, all I'd get was coronae, in 1.65, I can see the sun correctly (though background stars will shine through it, and the planet) until I get close, when the surface of the star will disappear, and I'll j...

Another way of getting some (limited) information from a Segfault crash is to run 'strace' on the application when you start up (man strace will give some options) 'strace oolite' should get it going. It will make your console log go nuts compared to normal. ;) look at the last several lines before ...

I've run into this one in the past. Try hyperspacing from about 15-24 km BEHIND the Torus. That seems to be the workaround for me.

Well, as it stands now, the cloaking device, when active, will not allow GalCop to record your kills for the Elite Ranking credit, IIRC. If that's exposed to OXPs, you could perhaps use that to your advantage. And honestly.... It's an Assassin's Guild... Why would they frown on using stealth to enga...

In the Makefile you are refering to, at least in linux, it wouldn't work as the VPATH variable was set up wrong; the seperator between directories should be a colon, not a semicolon.

After following the process to get libnoise to build that's outlined in your readme, (I grabbed the sources from the libnoise website, and their Makefile is hosed beyond belief on my system.) I seem to be getting somewhere. I got Oolite linking properly, and it builds. However, it Segfaults on start...

I tried grabbing the 'textured-planets' branch out of SVN today. I'm guessing that right now, this is still being worked on more privately by dajt, as there seems to be no code calling on libnoise when I compile the source, and the planets look about how they always have.
