Re: Last "easy" version of game?
So I read https://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/User:Cim Two things stood out: "Dice" and "Everything should be dangerous". Random is good insofar as it makes things interesting, however: A player should always have some reasonable chance of surviving if their ship is well equipped a...

Re: Last "easy" version of game?
Sorry if binary is not the right word. Not human readable. You open it in a text editor and it looks like nonsense.

Re: Last "easy" version of game?
Thanks a lot. That's helpful. It totally bummed me out when (apparently) 1.8 came out. I was going to run the "population" OXP, and try to modify it to my preferences, but it was a binary. Old guy time: It's like the whole Han Solo thing. You want to be Han because he's really good, and ev...

Re: Oolite and Aristotelian Motion
Aristotle thinks that objects are naturally at rest. The mover must be acting on the moved, actively and continuously. Otherwise, it wouldn't move. "The moved" is by definition moved. Nothing can move without being moved. He argues that one thing moves another, and so on, but that can't go...

Last "easy" version of game?
What was the last version of the game that did not have all the pirates?
Does anybody play it, and have you had success with any addons?

Re: Survey: What is your Oolite playing style?
I played (tried to play) Elite as a kid. I couldn't figure out docking. I like to start from scratch and go as long as I can without getting killed. Years ago, I started with an early version of Oolite and had a great time running long passenger missions, until the game got upgraded and I got killed...

Re: How to get rid of gianormous bands of random pirates?
Thanks, those are some good suggestions for the beginning. I figured out the only way to play without getting killed is to play a milkrun between two really close systems, and install injectors first so that you always have an escape. I just got my ship fully outfitted. I had military lasers, beam l...

How to get rid of gianormous bands of random pirates?
I like Oolite (and played a lot years ago) but I really don't like the roaming bands of 20 pirates. If your ship isn't outfitted properly yet, and you can't escape, you are pretty much dead. I like to play without ever dying, so it kind of ruins it for me. Is there a hack for getting rid of the huge...
