Re: oolite.space on web.archive.org
With the above assumptions I found now two pages that should answer the question what has changed in that timeframe. only-static: https://github.com/OoliteProject/oolite-web/commits/only-static/?before=3cc02037b888c5b94f4b2c258ac40c928065e647+140 only-media: https://github.com/OoliteProject/oolite-w...

Re: oolite.space on web.archive.org
Apparently the last good scan was on 22JUL2023. The next happened one month later, so at 22AUG2023. As partly scans are still possible I doubt we locked out robots or anything similar. Thus I'd look at changes to the site's content. And that is stored at https://github.com/OoliteProject/oolite-web T...

Re: Autopilot for Oolite
Yes I also believe what he achieved could have been done better in an OXP. He took a different approach and that's what I like: He controlled Oolite without requiring internal knowledge. He used simply Bash and a few command line tools. Likely I'd not try to OXP this as that would be quite a lock-in...

Re: oolite.space on web.archive.org
That website is under version control.
Do we have events in the range of last good scan and first partly scan?

Re: Am annoyed about fixed lasers
Cholmondely has already pointed to the closest we have to what you seek: turrets. You only need to give them a hostile target and they know what to do about the rest. They even know not to shoot at their own ship. Jup. I used them when flying the Imperial Star Destroyer . As well as the fighter fle...

Re: Am annoyed about fixed lasers
If the question of how to play arises, there is a challenge already if no automation if offered. Try to control the ship using keyboard/joystick while aiming weapons using the mouse. Any of the 4 views could be used, giving enough of aiming limitation. I do get the point that NPC ships then would do...

Re: Autopilot for Oolite
You could OXP the entire thing, if you wanted, without needing to use an external tool. If fact, you could do it better, because you could interrogate the game state in a far more exhaustive and accurate way. That's what I thought as well. And then I thought we might want to create a custumizable s...

Am annoyed about fixed lasers
I still cannot believe the space ships in Oolite behave like WW1 or WW2 fighters. Those had machine guns fixed to the hull. The pilot would aim the plane's nose at others and then shoot. In Oolite a dogfight works exactly the same way but... In flight simulators it is possible to quickly react by ur...

Autopilot for Oolite
I just stumbled across this article describing how to milk-run with automation: http://www.jeffmcaffee.com/creating-a-simple-bot/ Impressive, the concept works by simply pushing keyboard events into Oolite. Plus the script looks at the screen to validate where it's going. Just like - ummm - me when ...

Re: Issue with moving exhausts
The thing that "rotated camera" might affect is the "billboard" texture presentation (i.e. objects always oriented to face the camera). I'd expect z-order not to be affected by camera rotation. I am not sure though this is how the the exhaust is rendered (that is, if using billb...

Re: Issue with moving exhausts
I can assure you that the Cobra and the Viper in that shot are far apart enough to guarantee that there is no chance of one crossing the exhaust trails of the other. It is indeed a render bug, but it occurs only in external views and only after having rotated the camera. I would have expected the 3...

Re: Issue with moving exhausts
I understand the z-ordering issue - that's tricky to fix. But I'm not 100% sure this issue is an example of that. The starting point for the exhausts appears to be changing (at least in the current view), which would mean the quaternion position is somehow changing, or isn't being translated correc...

Would this be relevant? Re: Issue with moving exhausts
https://i.postimg.cc/0NDsv347/image.png Arrow indicates where the gap has developed Cannot see that image. But looking again - yes there is something. Much smaller than I had expected when watching first time. Remains the question whether it is a ship modeling issue or something from the Oolite core.

Re: Issue with moving exhausts
TBH I cannot see an issue there.
The ship's back is quite dark so you do not see it. But looking at it's shape I can see the background exhausts following the ship conture where they are obstructed so it is ok for me.
I am using the Imperial Courier and do not see issues there as well.
