Re: FaceBook [Linkcheck]

What I want to point out though is that this bot, although scanning us without specific user account, is detected and treated with 'bot provileges'. And this shows up in logs, online users etc. So nothing harmful is happening. I've no desire to make the board invisible. Just restricting access to (...

Re: Cockpits, HUDs and other displays

There is another possible issue, Hiran. Interaction . One can interact with the Market Inquirer MFD to select which commodity is shown, for example. And ditto for a number of the others such as the Ship's Library MFD (choose page/chapter) and the Communications MFD (choose most recent/choose those ...

Re: FaceBook [Linkcheck]

And the bot is back again. Edited to say : almost 2 hours later and this blasted bot is still in our BB spying on us. The forum is publicly viewable. So anyone can spy on us - a decision we never questioned. But we can change it to only allow registered users. What I want to point out though is tha...

Re: Cockpits, HUDs and other displays

It appears you essentially want all mfds taken off the main screen and onto something else! Not the combat ones. But, yes. I'd love to see the equivalent of an astrogation console, a trade console, and an engineering console, etc . Makes sense. Imagine you build a multi screen setup. One big screen...

Re: Cockpits, HUDs and other displays

So I am playing a bit with Maik's OXP and it communicates the ship speed nicely.

Remain the questions:
- what data we ultimately want to have avaialble? (Maik was only experimenting with the ship speed)
- where/how shall it get displayed?

Re: FaceBook [Linkcheck]

But how/why there is a user account for a bot is still a question mark for me. However someone could have registered an account, then put the credentials into the bot. And to mark it up changed the username in the aftermath. If we block this user I guess the bot will conclude the links to be invali...

Re: FaceBook [Linkcheck]

How come this gets membership of our Bulletin Board? How does this add in any way to our community? And why is Facebook spying on us? It's a frequent visitor. Very frequent. More frequent than Bing, in my estimation. Presumably, it follows links people have posted to Facebook, and censors posts con...

Re: Cockpits, HUDs and other displays

Definitely more efficient. Might Maik's solution work on a Mac? He started off with an AppleMac, but I have a feeling that he moved away to another operating system. It should work on a Mac. The challenge is to make Oolite connect to a Debug Console - not the internal one. That's where we failed la...

Re: Cockpits, HUDs and other displays

one_armed_man made it for his son. There is some rather sardonic commentary on Timer's Roolite BB which discusses some of this. I read it some years ago when Google Translate was more useful. And Maik came even closer to the request for multiple displays by using NodeRed: https://bb.oolite.space/vi...

Re: Cockpits, HUDs and other displays

Interesting thought. Currently Oolite consists of one single window. If you have more than one screen (be it on the same or a different computer) that space remains unused. I think there was someone who described how to add an additional screen to Oolite. How did he do that? And what information wo...

Cockpits, HUDs and other displays

Maybe I should have a look at configuring all the 12 HUDs which I never do... Please forgive the OT, but... 12? Nope! still not enough. I struggle to manage with 10, and can't understand how I managed before MFDs. When oh! when, will we be able to serve up ALL our MFDs over http so we can open them...

That deserves a thread of it's own.

Re: Contracts and reputation

Why do such sophisticated spaceships not even have the maintenance counters and warnings as every standard car has today? Don't they? You usually see Maintenance Overhaul highlighted in orange when you scroll through the F3 screen when docked. And that's only when you need it. Am not aware. I need ...

Re: Contracts and reputation

They never really appealed to me, anyway. Whizzing through systems to get to a destination and with no time to explore anything properly... Hmmm, I'm not aware that there is much exploring to be done. One sun per system, one planet, one station... apart from rock hermits, what is there to be discov...
