Re: OoliteStarter

Testing this on the Mac. A couple of issues. Selecting a pre-saved Jameson (found by starter in ~/Documents) and hitting resume opens Oolite 1.90 on the main menu. Saving as a new name while "starter-started" makes no odds. Resume doesn't resume, it loads. Still one can open the savegame ...

Re: Touch Portal

I am a little bit unhappy today. I want to start my easy button box, because they deliver me not the correct print to start it. I can´t start it .....I like to become physical .... Have you become physical meanwhile? Or did that button box get started? In the meantime we do have an Oolite-MQTT brid...

Re: Attempting to get 1.91 built on Mac

I should also add, I have no idea if there will be other issues to solve if I can get past the current one. This still may not result in an updated Mac build, just so expectations are set at an appropriate level. The development in 1.91 is quite little - only minor fixes as I see them. And the chan...

Re: Broken or missing links

But... was not OoliteStarter initiated to cover exactly that problem? So for the uniniated, would that not be a much more 'rewarding' fix?

Re: Cockpits, HUDs and other displays

Now that OoliteStarter is easy to configure and sends data reliably. I managed to create a dashboard. This time in a browser based on node-red. It is impressively fast. Seems this is the most straightforward way, and Maik had demonstrated it long ago. The limits I am hitting is that we actually have...

Whoops! I just uploaded them.

But wouldn't it be nice if you could directly upload to Github rather than going yet another hop?
@a_c, @phkb? Could you fix that?
I'd be up for that. I've edited my previous post.
Uploaded to Github. :-)

Re: Cockpits, HUDs and other displays

So here is the next version which directly visualizes the effect of user input. Regarding that slash magic: OoliteStarter will not intermingle - users can directly see the impact of their deeds before any harm was created and react. OoliteStarter v0.1.32-gelsemium.11 Coolness! Before I play, here a...

Re: Cockpits, HUDs and other displays

Coolness! Before I play, here are my Mac x86_64 builds of that. Thanks for including our AppleMacintas. :-) Cholmondely? Please take over... While building that, I noticed this: [WARNING] Some problems were encountered while building the effective model for oolite:OoliteStarter:jar:0.1-SNAPSHOT [WA...

Re: Cockpits, HUDs and other displays

Observations and suggestions: I'd already done the config in ~/.oolite-starter.conf, so had clues to work with. Maybe give an example URL like tcp://127.0.0.1:1883. Could the 'sane example' server URL be pre-filled in that field when no user content? It is after all, what the majority will be needi...

Re: Nothing but trouble, annoyance and losses

[...]It would of course be even more motivating if the player could become part of the story in some way and influence the outcome and, for example, there would be a message or an entry in the Tionisla Chronicle about the events at the end. That is the whole intent of 'interactive fiction'. :-) I'v...

And did you survive the encounter with the goat? It looks so angry! ;-)
Of course he survived. But I'm wondering what happened to his comrade.
Or is the goat looking at some fellow goat behind the camera?

Re: Cockpits, HUDs and other displays

You are in a good position and welcome to test the build that MrFlibble handcrafted for Apple x86 hardware. While it does not carry the latest experimental code (MQTT) it is still very shiny and deserves to be checked. https://github.com/OoliteProject/OoliteStarter/releases/tag/v0.1.31 It installed...

Any chance of some sort of a picture showing what either of you have managed so far? Hello Cholmondely. You are in a good position and welcome to test the build that MrFlibble handcrafted for Apple x86 hardware. While it does not carry the latest experimental code (MQTT) it is still very shiny and ...

Re: Nothing but trouble, annoyance and losses

Impressive story. But so far this and other such stories are all short episodes, not too much connected and without user interaction. User interaction? Have a look at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYs6HM8ly40 This one explains where stories become interactive and even covers the development of suc...
