My only reason for wanting a panther was to stick top and bottom guns as its a brick and not manoeuvrable!
I wonder why the buyable/sellable [EliteWiki] Yasen-N Turret oxp wasn't mentioned here. It seems to date back to 2015 or so.

Re: joystick recommendation

I bought this one (in other shop) and it is really good (and really expensive too) http://www.thrustmaster.com/en_UK/products/hotas-warthog-flight-stick and special keypad for left hand. But I still would like more buttons and controls, so maybe I will create my own programmable keypad based on AVR...

Re: Scifi aliens described in Elite/Oolite terms

Anyway, before that link was posted I was in the process of doing work for each and every iteration of body type and inhabitant group. Now I know that only half of them occur in game anyway that work has been halved. And just what are you planning on doing to our bug-eyed birds? Should we be report...

Re: joystick recommendation

When I do play oolite, it's on linux. I used to use a Logitech Wingman but switched to a Logitech dual action gamepad some time ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1zeBaASgXE Nudge, nudge. Wink, wink. Any chance of seeing your bindings? Seriously , I've been collecting binding ideas for new playe...

"NPC detection" range

I ( not an NPC but a player) can detect all sorts of things beyond my scanner range - I can see laser fire in the distance, I can see icesteroids, I can see large ships, et cetera. I can also see stuff silhouetted against the sun, and see things better when the sun shines on them. Telescope Extender...

Re: New Player question- less pirate oxp?

I suppose that after playing for 7 or 8 years it's no problem to handle those odds, but for a new player it kills the immersion if you die and respawn constantly at your last 'save' or the only option is to run away. Kind of boring for a space combat game. And doesn't exactly build your combat skil...

Re: Planetfall 2.0 (apparently)

Oh, on the topic of Famous Planets, I see it's gotten updated recently. Any non-spoilery hints about what's new with it? v.3.0 (never in Expansions Manager) 1) FIX: Multiple spelling mistakes corrected 2) FIX: Galaxy 7 systems correctly placed in G7 rather than G8 3) NEW: A handful of new lore-base...

Re: Planetfall 2.0 (apparently)

...During the slower parts of a trip (like waiting on docking queue) I often spend time thinking about the what life down there on the surface (or up in at the station) is like. Famous Planets gives more detail for selected systems (100 or so) in G1 & G2 (on your F7 screen). And Phkb has transm...

or bug-eyed er, bugs? :( If you are really missing your bug-eyed bugs, don't forget that there may be more than just the one species on any planet. Only the dominant one is listed. So for all we know, Tionisla may well be crawling with all sorts of variety of bug-eyed bugs! All you have to do is mo...

Re: BroadcastComms MFD [Release]

In extremis, you could change the font and include the file inside your OXP. But I doubt that there are very many spare characters to play around with. Unless there is some way of adding more known to our Admiralty. Actually, it must be possible. Krager is translating everything into Russian (writt...

Re: Scifi aliens described in Elite/Oolite terms

The way I imagine it, the ones that don't have a colour adjective are either multicoloured or their colour isn't vivid enough to catch attention. Or maybe the Old Galactic Catalogue Entry report on them was made by a lobstoid whose eyeballs operate at a different wavelength? https://wiki.alioth.net...

Re: BroadcastComms MFD [Release]

Hmm, nope, I added a manifest and it still doesn't work. No, the Manifest only helps Oolite (and the Expansions Manager/Oolite Starter) to recognise an OXP. It has no effect on whether it works! Have you tried a linter? *https://www.jslint.com/ seems to be good for Oolite's version of Javascript. *...
