Re: PS3 Controller's D-Pad registers as Button 1

It could also make sense to know if you're using the www.oolite.org version of the game or the one provided by your distribution. I've downloaded it from www.oolite.org <note to self to check what antimicro is> Oh.. think I've told.. it's a program (one of the) that lets you map your joystick's but...

Re: PS3 Controller's D-Pad registers as Button 1

Well, there's one more suggestion that might help: xinput. If you open a terminal window, and enter the xinput command, is you PS3 controller visible? Nope, it's not. BTW, is there anything reported in you Latest.log file about the joystick? [joystick.init]: Number of joysticks detected: 1 (it migh...

Plus, all commanders should do the "8" - it's hard to get any respect at the various watering holes if you haven't been around the loop at least once!
Sorry to jump on.. but I'm also new here and I'm wondering what this "8" loop is?

Re: Ship specifications

Well, to clarify - I was wondering should I change the standard Cobra Mk.III wich I had from the start to the Miner (or Mining) Cobra Mk.III. Now, I saw it had much more TC right away from F3F3 screen, but I was wondering about everything else like energy-generators, shields, weapons, etc.. But neve...

Re: PS3 Controller's D-Pad registers as Button 1

Well, another thing could be that you're trying to map the D-Pad to actions not appropriate (i.e. that won't get the different buttons of the pad). Well, I tried mapping it to all the different actions - the result is always the same - it registers as "Stick 1 Buuton 1", the same button b...

Ship specifications

Can I somehow see the specifications of the ships that are for sale at a station? Or better yet - view them in comparison to the one's I currently own? And yes, I know there's a way to see ship's specifications in F4 screen, but thing is - there's only one ship of each class in there while on sale t...

Are you aware of Roolite
No, I wasn't.. and honestly - I coudn't care less :) About 20 years ago I may have needed it, but now I prefer the original.. Same goes not only for video-games but also for the movies, books and so on.

Welcome to our new players, hope you enjoy the game.
I do enjoy it, and thanks for welcoming.

No, it has just slowed down, the development team is not that big and RL does tend to interfere quite often. It still goes on though
Oh, OK, that's good to hear. Thank you again :)

Re: Introduce Yourself.

Hi everybody. ..Well, to be completely honest I didn't play Elite as a kid. First of all, we didn't have those "western" home-computers here in USSR in the 80s :) And even if we did I'd be too young (born in 83) to grasp the Elite anyway :) Little later, in the late 80s - early 90s ZX Spec...

Re: PS3 Controller's D-Pad registers as Button 1

Well, the thing is - it's working properly in all the other games, so it suprised me to see how it misbehaves in Oolite  Anyway.. I think this topic is not actual anymore, since I found out that some actions are not even there in "joystick configuration". For example "request c...

PS3 Controller's D-Pad registers as Button 1

Hello, everybody! Can you please help me out here? I'm using my PS3 Controller in Ubuntu 18.04 and it's working fine. jstest-jdk shows each button of the d-pad as a separate 13, 14, 15 and 16 respectively.. But! Inside Oolite in the joystick configuration any button of the d-pad is registered as &qu...
