Re: Combat is too hard with a keyboard

For me the joystick is essencial and ultimate tool. Playing with only keyboard is terribly difficult (and was in Elite too, but I had simple joystick even back then and did rely on that heavy too). I started yesterday another session, in Strict Mode (= no OXPs) and with Wire Graphic (real nostalgia ...

Re: Is there a way to display game data externally in oolite

I think, there is one relatively simple way: - each OXP have access to nearly all game data, so if you look into some of OXP which display something (fighter HUD or such), you probably could copy the way, they get speed, orientation of ship etc. pretty regulary - then you can make you own OXP, which...

Just few comments: inappropriate combinations - I like "Edible Poets" :D Fuel: there are http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/ExtraFuelTanks and http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Fuel_Tweaks with tradeable Quirium Fuel Also even with expensive ship and equipement I scoop fuel very often (and lo...

Re: Escape Pod as Standard OXZ

I am not sure, where I read that, but for "normal people" to get their ship was just one way - sign up contract, where you work years on some company's ship basically for free, and if you survive all the time, you was awarded by ship of yours. Now it would mean jump to some system (2 days ...

Re: Advanced Navagational Array: Can I plot my own course?

My idea was about waypoints, where I could be able to click systems in sequence (like in courier would mark all delivery systems in order he want to travel them, then it would show at each click total accumulated time and "next system" in navigation would be set like only first unreached i...

Re: Why was the difficulty of pirates set so high?

There are pack of trader and his security, and while trader is Clean and part of security too, some security could be Offenders. They still do not attack, as they are paid to protect the trader. But if you attack anyone of them (even the Offender), they all go after you and still are Clean (and you a...

Re: Why was the difficulty of pirates set so high?

I met some "indestructible" ships too - I little hacked MFD and made it show remaining energy and I really simetimes found a pirate, whos energy does not decrease even after long hit from military laser (or even RimmerAce one). They can be destroyed/damaged by ramming them (which also dama...

Re: Why was the difficulty of pirates set so high?

If I remember correctly, I soon adopted landing strategy opposite of what was recommended (approach station at around half speed, then slow down and synchronise rotation and than slowly and carefully fly ahed, maintaining rotation in sync) - I stopped somewhere between planet and station, carefully ...

Re: joystick recommendation

I bought this one (in other shop) and it is really good (and really expensive too) http://www.thrustmaster.com/en_UK/products/hotas-warthog-flight-stick and special keypad for left hand. But I still would like more buttons and controls, so maybe I will create my own programmable keypad based on AVR ...

Re: [WIP] GalCop Missions

Hello, I downloaded the 0.5.8 version and once again I tried to recue the "stranded ship" in Beesor, half way between Witchpoint and Sun (so it should be like 380km from each ) and had a few problem: I took the direct way, to arrive just at time - it told me something like 10 minutes to de...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia

Under 100 meters? And not involving boarding operations? Can't think of any at all. I would have said anything under 1000 km was ridiculously close, but there I can think of a couple that qualify. Well not only just for boarding. (boarding may happened after the fight, but fighting on that close ra...
