Re: Self-centering joystick mode for trackpad
Ah, ok I think I see what you're getting at. Except for the bit "does trackpad control basically work without..." Well, I think one can get the absolute trackpad coordinates for touch events ie. touch began, moved and ended. (and then, obviously, use the motion relative to the coordinate o...

Re: Self-centering joystick mode for trackpad
Hmmm. Not sure what you mean. What sucks? I can't play this sort of game using the keyboard - it has to be a joystick, or something equivalent. The normal mouse mode with pressing button 2 to centre is OK (I have the bottom right of the trackpad configured as Button 2) but it's kind of distracting w...

Re: Self-centering joystick mode for trackpad
Success! Sort of... I got it working, but only in the NON full-screen mode! The mouse pointer jumps back to the centre of the sights when you lift your finger from the trackpad (on my MacBook Air). This feels quite close to using a joystick. Yes, the mouse pointer *is* visible. Perhaps it could be h...

Re: NSLog?
I suspect that what you really want is to see log messages in the Xcode console Yes, thanks, that's what I wanted. And thanks for the link to the Secret Hidden Settings page! I hadn't even found/looked for the Elite Wiki :-) Just out of interest, is the Hidden Settings Page linked to from the Oolit...

NSLog?
NSLog doesn't work the way it should.
That may have something to do with the OOLog* stuff.
However, that's about 2.3 THOUSAND lines of code, which I don't really want to go through! I just want to use NSLog.
I saw some #undef NSLog code, but when I try that I get no output either.

Problems compiling 1.74.2 on OS X 10.6.6 solved
with Xcode 3.2.5 (64 bit): I installed libpng (1.5.0) in ~/developer/oolite-dev-source-1.74.2/deps/Cross-platform-deps/libpng and did the ./configure; make; sudo make install there . And I installed RBSplitView12 (and did a Build&Run from Xcode. And double-clicked it) And I installed RBSplitView...

Re: Oolite on the Mac App Store....?
That's a common feeling. But Apple is a company. It doesn't have "feelings" of loyalty towards its "loyal" user base, the one that kept it alive through the rough patches. Capitalists would say "and why should it? It's a company, with shareholders." Still, the feeling t...

Re: Self-centering joystick mode for trackpad
Ah, OK - yes mouseDown and mouseUp are events generated by the a mouse button being clicked and released.

Thanks for the prod in the right direction.

Self-centering joystick mode for trackpad
Hi, I've just started using Oolite on a MacBook (Air). (gosh, has it only been 23 yrs...) Anyway, I've never managed to hit anything using the keyboard for manoeuvring. The trackpad is a bit closer to using a joystick - but it doesn't centre itself when you "let go". Wouldn't that be an im...

Re: Oolite on the Mac App Store....?
I'm nervous about the AppStore because it looks like Apple want to turn the Mac (eventually) into a sort of big iPhone. With fart apps.
