Re: Decals and Nose art.

Okay, that was entertaining. Went to options, turned on shaders; in the main menu, the skull appeared on the spinning ship. So I launched... and after hitting F1, the Oolite window basically froze for 6 minutes; then it started showing some weird tilted text-imagery instead of a starfield, then the...

Re: Decals and Nose art.

I'm almost certain that there used to be an OXP that did this, but can't find it right now.

If @Cody is referring to one, he didn't link it.

It was fairly capable, to the point that a skilled pilot could etch their initials in an NPC ship's hull with the laser...

Re: (WIP) Home System

Swap out 'Nigeria' for 'Maesin', 'Prince' for some random item from a list of suitably rodentish titles, throw in some verbiage about inducting the recipient into a Maesinian animist religion (for the same reasons the Black Monks exist); and once the email is sent, add some game-logic so that in th...

Re: Split: Re-scaling experiment

@redspear: Gaaa... That's what I get for doing math when I'm tired. I didn't notice that I was using the wrong proportions. Let's give it another go: Cobra III at normal scale fits in a rectangular prism 130 x 30 x 65 = 250,000 cubic units, approx. Anaconda at double scale fits in a prism 150 x 120 ...

Re: Ideally Imperfect OOniverse: Calibrated Hyperspace jumps.

Incidentally, does anyone know if ships jumping in ever leave a traverseable wormhole? If not, I did find at least one instance where an NPC ship jumped from the witchpoint. Not sure who, or what it was doing, but there were several interesting persons on the other end who gave me a very warm welcom...

Re: Ideally Imperfect OOniverse: Calibrated Hyperspace jumps.

From the various bits and pieces posted so far, it seems that pretty much all of this is fairly doable, even adding a tracker to service level. For this particular OXP, though, I wonder if the simpler thing might be to add an information line to the HUD when you start the jump countdown: Hypderdrive...

Re: Split: Re-scaling experiment

Looking quite usable! I'll wait and see if Dizzy can do a Windows build, and try it out. (I've never had good luck getting a working compile system running on Windows, and I don't have space on my Linux VM for the specialty libraries) If I simply resize some of the ships that seem a little too big b...

Re: I have lost power on my ship???

Sounds like you are going to have to start experimenting with your OXP setup. That is certainly not core game behavior. It sounds as if two or more OXPs are tweaking how shields work in your game, and are stepping on each other's toes. (could also be an older OXP that needs to be updated to work cor...

Re: Ideally Imperfect OOniverse: Calibrated Hyperspace jumps.

I can assure you Sailsman63, that most ships departing a station jump out when not far from the station aegis. I never thought otherwise. I had thought that, in addition to the jumpers that there were still trader ships and packs that would patrol out to the witchpoint and back. I've just done some...

Re: Ideally Imperfect OOniverse: Calibrated Hyperspace jumps.

I think an OXP that allows players to do maintenance is needed anyway I'd agree. Perhaps something along the lines of what was discussed in this topic . At the very least, a rough indicator so that the player is basically aware of SL. I'd actually like to see separate service levels for various bas...

Re: Ideally Imperfect OOniverse: Calibrated Hyperspace jumps.

Hmm... I'd swear that I still see a clean boa + escorts outbound fairly regularly. (Though, not as frequent as inbound traffic.) That really does not sound like a bounty-hunter squad to me. If I'm wrong, okay, I may have missed something. I still like this OXP idea as something that a commander need...

So.. "Sails"? A sailor of some type, at least?
A wannabe.

I've sailed a little plastic catboat that a relative had a few times, and turtled a 14 foot hobbie cat. Most of my water time has a wood-and-muscle 'sail'

I've built a couple of these:

Ideally Imperfect OOniverse: Calibrated Hyperspace jumps.

I've been bothered off and on by an apparent contradiction: It is possible (in fact, standard procedure) to make a hyperspace jump shortly after launch, as soon as we clear masslock from the main station. However, we continue to see individual traders and entire convoys braving the dangers of the sp...

Re: Split: Re-scaling experiment

Just like to add my 0.02 Cr: Love this. I'd love to see core scripting access extended to the point that the rescale can be done as a simple OXP. Some of the new enhancements from 1.86 look enticing, especially the upgraded planetary textures. However, the rescale enhances immersion enough for me to...

guess says 63 is the year of your birth? (lots of us old farts here.. I hail from 1960)
No, just sort of a random thing that stuck. I'm rather younger than that guess would make me.
