Re: How to you create a "deadzone" for your joystick
I have bought two game pads so far, with twin sticks (so it's just like flying a model aircraft). The first one I bought was a Saitek for £8 from Maplins which was OK although a bit too sensitive and difficult to line up with your target. After a couple of weeks it started to drift when in "neu...

Yes I see... but sometimes you just want to blast away and have some fun and I think that weapon overheat will be the one thing that will turn me off the game (again as I'm sure that was my frustration on the beeb). It may seem odd but Elite is the only computer game I have ever invested time in - a...

Hi LOCI, I started playing Oolite the day before yesterday after 1/4 century as well!! I've kept a timer - 21 hours so far... Talking of weapons. Even the military laser overheats quickly. It is ridiculously difficult to take on multiple aggressors (who don't seem to have overheating problems themse...

Just had some fun coming in to Esteonbi A bunch of cops were attacking an Anaconda I think it was so I helped out and destroyed it then got a message of thanks from the cops. I then collected the cargo and a guy called Enata 'di Hector and got 413.6 bounty for him! Great - but now must go and do som...

Yes, I played Elite on my BBC which I still have in the loft. I remember going in to Watford Electronics and being blown away by the BBC's graphics!!! compared to the Sinclair Spectrum I had. Thanks to the Spectrum and BBC then PCs I had an interesting career as a programmer for 20 years... I doubt ...

Thanks guys... With your advice I now head off at an angle to the planet while watching it through the side windows. When I spot the Coriolis I switch to front view and approach it from a high orbit and can now hyperspeed right up to it and then use the fuel injection to get really close. Docking is...

I've got just over 10 hours on the Cobra III (this time round - 25 years ago I had A LOT more - nearly lost wife over it...). I've bought the cargo bay, beam laser and fuel scoops. Had a go at scooping fuel off Orerve's sun. Got the fuel but then got fried on the way out. It's taking me about 25 min...

Hi guys. I was enthusing over Christmas with my sons about the games we had in the early days on the BBC micro my favourites being "Mr E" and Elite and how much better the gameplay was in those days. I couldn't find Mr E so after googling Elite I find it is still going as Oolite and of cou...
