Re: Issues with Graphics in Linux

I have an older AMD 7700HD or something with 2GB, running on Elementary OS (http://www.elementary.io), no proprietary drivers. I can set everything to the max, and it does look the same as it did on Windows. As Elementary is an Ubuntu variant (sort of), maybe there's an issue with the proprietary dr...

Re: HTML5 Galaxy Maps

Are the averages for the market hard-coded (tedious work for 2,048 systems) or do you get them off a database somewhere?

Re: Pale Moon browser

Update Firefox last night (to v57.0) and it no longer supports my form filler add-on  You may want to look at this one: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/form-history-control/ I'm using it and it works pretty well. Only downside: You need to fill a few forms with your most used en...

Re: An interstellar visitor

Now, new data reveal the interstellar interloper to be a rocky, cigar-shaped object with a somewhat reddish hue. The asteroid, named ‘Oumuamua by its discoverers, is up to one-quarter mile (400 meters) long and highly-elongated—perhaps 10 times as long as it is wide. That aspect ratio is greater th...

Re: Stuff Windows 10

This may work now but the plan is to force these updates on to you.

// EDIT:
With a true user-centric software and/or operating system, you shouldn't have to enter into system internals to turn these things off. You should be given the choice whether you want it or not.

Re: Stuff Windows 10

I only need to touch Windows 10 at work. While you have to cut them some slack for the attempt to bring back the Start menu, it still feels alien and it's not something I'd like to use in my normal life. Of course you can install things like ClassicShell to bring back the "real" experience...

Re: [Split] Fuel Tweaks

Excuse this question... not sure if I'm missing some fine piece of equipment on my ship, but... how exactly do you scoop this nice-sounding Quirium fuel from the star? I know I have to torus toward the sun, obviously. Then what? :D

Dreaming of... Coriolis?

So this night I had this strange dream. In my hood there is this house high revolving Coriolis. In my dream, it's a casino. My wife and me are standing in front of it and she says "just because it looks lile this revolving thing in your space game, does not mesn you have to go inside". Tru...

Re: [WIP] Oolite Maps

Making progress on everything. The main bar on top has gone, but most important functions such as filters and later on the route planning, is now condensed into the small bar in the top. I think it provides a more modern feel to the whole thing. Systems are now clickable, which brings up an info pan...

I'm not a follower of Doctor Who, but... Jodie Whittaker?
We live in a world with equal opportunities. And I think after some 50 years or so, it's about time a woman gets to get her hands on the TARDIS levers.

Re: [WIP] Oolite Maps

Getting along nicely. It's now got random starfield generation, zoom in and zoom out, the map can be dragged. Plus, if you drag it, the starfield exhibits a funky parallax effect. The rulers on the bottom and left move as you drag the map, plus they adjust themselves if you zoom in and zoom out. Swi...

[WIP] Oolite Maps

So I'm working on something quite nice I think, plus, it's a little fitness exercise for my brain. Oolite Maps is primarily a web-based tool that not only will render and display dynamic, SVG-based maps of a single galaxy of Oolite, but also allows to display detailed information about a solar syste...

Re: Distance between two solar systems - Z value?

OK I'm really a bit flabbergasted. I looked through the entire Oolite source code to determine the function that calculates distances between two systems. To be sure I get it right, I took the example of Lave <-> Leesti, which is 3.6 LY - according to the game. However if you apply euclidean formula...
