Well just been playing some more with all the OXPs and no crashes. The crashes are too infrequent (that was the first and I haven't had one today) for the test of trying just SR2 or just Orbit. I'll have to see if it happens again and then see if I can determine anything I was doing that might promp...

[Closed] CrashLog-PossibleCulprits Orbit1.2.1 & SystemRe

Hi, I had a crash. Oolite has been stable until now. Recent changes are: 1. upgrade to 1.74.1 2. installation of Orbit and System Redux 2 Any ideas? [log.header]: Opening log for Oolite version 1.74.1 (x86-32 test release) under Linux at 2010-07-22 19:36:42 +0000. 4 processors detected. Oolite optio...

It seems I must have been somehow missing the missile warnings before. Having been told to look out for them, I had rather more success last night and used my ECM to good effect. No sudden blowing up and some dead pirates instead of dead me. :D

Which bit(s) do you think it is not possible to do?

1. the form
2. auto-generation index from the form
3. auto-generating more than just the OXP name in the index

I think that as Thargoid proposed earlier that it's best to auto-generate as much as possible assuming it's not too difficult to do so. Hence why a form with certain compulsory fields like OXP name, brief description, release date, author's name and Oolite version is desirable in my view. This will ...

[UPDATE: Please see http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/XBox360_Controller for Linux XBox360 Controller setup] I have slightly improved the setup and embedded the comments for ease of readability based on help from the XBoxDrv author. The key config in my first post is still needed. Here is my new laun...

Thanks for your detailed reply. I think I will trade a bit more to get the money for the better shield boosters as this looks like it will make a big difference.

Cheers,
Mike

I was thinking about this a bit more, in particular Thargoid's view that the wiki is too freeform. I think that to get round this problem, it would be possible to use: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Semantic_Forms This has a drop down input type which would be great for restricting OXP auth...

Thanks for your feedback. I will try to see if I am getting these missile warning messages. If I am, they are not obvious. 1. What lasers do ships you'll encounter generally have? 2. How quickly will shields deplete if being directly hit by an enemy using the most common laser assuming a Cobra MK II...

Suddenly blown up

I've been spending all my time trading, but thought I'd try some combat. I have found that I seemed to get blown up very suddenly. I have the Cobra MK III with an extra energy unit. 1. Is it that the enemy have fired a missile? 2. Do you get any warning of incoming missiles? 3. Any advice in general...

Optimal XBox 360 controller setup

[UPDATE: Please see http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/XBox360_Controller for Linux XBox360 Controller setup] I've plugged away at this and come up with the following set up using the Xboxdrv http://pingus.seul.org/~grumbel/xboxdrv/xboxdrv.html. My launcher for Oolite that sets up Xboxdrv with my butt...

So we've done the complete orbit now ;)[/color] We have, haven't we? So it sounds like we are heading towards extending the category tagging so that the auto generated http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Category:Oolite_expansion_packs page is more useful. 1. What does an OXP author need to do to have...

If you want to control input on the wiki and make it less freeform, I guess you could use templates: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Templates Also I think Mediawiki supports categories: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Categories "MediaWiki allows you to categorize pages and files by appe...

We had a single table before. The problem was the amount of OXPs on it, it was too unwieldy to edit and keep updated. In fact it got to the point where it was causing problems with my computer. Wiki pages don't work well when a table is bigger than 64k, and it was! Thats why it was split into at fi...
