Re: [UPDATED RELEASE] - Escort Contracts 1.7.1 (2015-12-04)
I never experienced something like this, and I made many, many escort runs. Usually the mother keeps going while I deal with the bad guys, and I have to hurry to catch up.

Re: [UPDATED RELEASE] - Escort Contracts 1.7.1 (2015-12-04)
I think I made the minor changes already, so I only have to upload it. But I'll have to check carefully first, because I was distracted by some other things in the past months (my days are too short for all the things I'm trying to do... ).

Re: How many of you OXP authors are programmers?
I wouldn't really call me an OXP programmer, but I'm a programmer in real life. I started with BASIC on the C-64, and later I did a little 6502 assembler too. In school, I learned Pascal (on an Apple IIe). My first "serious" programming as an intern and as a side job during my computer sci...

Re: Dropping Windows XP Support
and it is faster than it ever was Really ? How much of that 2 GB is eaten up just by this hopelessly blown up OS, right after system boot ? Something left for resource-heavy applications, e.g. java ones ? Yes, I was surprised myself. Windows 10 seems to be much sleeker than its predecessors. A co-w...

Re: Dropping Windows XP Support
I think there are still more XP users than Vista users, but Windows XP is 14 years old, and that's a very long time in the computer business. I'm still running XP on a daily basis on one of my office PCs (without Oolite!), but today, after hesitating for some time, I finally upgraded my equally old ...

Re: Quote of the week!
The question is: Incompetence, or intentional crime? I tend to suspect both.

Re: Quote of the week!
I feel that I ought to be surprised, or even shocked, at the above - but somehow I ain't! Yes, same here... I wasn't shocked - after all, it's not my tax money - but I was fascinated. But whatever happens, the "lost" money will somehow return to the economy, so it probably isn't as bad as...

Re: Frontier-style infinite Ooniverse?
I like the basic idea of having eight galaxies like they have been in Elite, and adding further galaxies that can be different without making Oolite too different from Elite. We would have to think about how to go from no. 8 to no. 1 instead of no. 9, because this was possible in Elite, but this wou...

Re: Proxima Centauri has an Earth-like?
It is so near that it "can be reached by spaceships", as I've read on a local newspaper page. In wonder what the author had in mind - perhaps a Python?

Re: Brexit vote, the zombie apocalypse and other fallout.
It has become quiet about this. I suspect that the British are hoping that everybody else will forget about the vote after some time, and everything can continue as usual.

Re: v1.84 release
Thank you for all your good work! Since version(s) 1.83 already seemed stable to me, I think it is time for me to remove 1.82 and switch to 1.84.

As strange as it sounds, but this might actually be a good idea. I wonder, how many Brexit secretaries will follow him.
