Re: Tales from the spacelanes...
One of the things that struck me, Pirates firing 4 missiles don't act economical either. What's 3tc of normal cargo worth (I take out 3 tc precious out of the calculation)? Simply put, Oolite piracy or hunting is just not profitable. 100 cr is more than a precious TC is worth on average (e.g. compu...
Re: Go SpaceX
Lots of BOOM press space until they managed to dock though.

Re: Tales from the spacelanes...
Then, on my way to the station, I met three pirates. Without ECM I didn't want to risk anything, and so I turned around and tried to kill them from a distance. Why not buying them off then ? It's just that you have to surrender, but from an economical (how little did they want, 3 TC ?) and tactical...

Re: Parcel / passenger transport
I keep thinking of switching to a Wolf, an ideal courier ship, You are referring to this ? What in particular is so ideal about this ship with respect to a courier ? A parcel courier should not need cargo space, but speed is important for running away when out of fuel and such. It doesn't particula...

Re: Parcel / passenger transport
even mentioning the names of the parcels' owners. The name they are mentioning is just random though. Even if you are not carrying any parcel in service of a client with that name. At least I never managed to find the corresponding parcel. :) ralph_hh: Perhaps you are taking parcels with short deli...

Re: Fuel tanks
There is an escape from interstellar space, Amah... but you gotta fight for it. Which is not survivable without (at least) an iron ass. Even then, maybe 1-2 warships can be taken down with lasers until shields are gone so fuel injectors may get damaged, limiting the available tactical options sever...

Re: Fuel tanks
No, because they make the game too easy. They enable you to run away for longer than anything chasing you.
Yes, because they can prevent you from being stranded in witchspace without enough fuel left to jump out.

Re: Defence against missiles
There's the firing of your missile at the missile How exactly is that supposed to work ? I never managed to fire a missile onto an incoming missile. E.g. please describe how to do it in the tutorial with no addons installed. (The problem is that the missile cannot be locked onto the incoming one, w...

Re: Defence against missiles
I'm interested in what to do if there's no rear laser (e.g. Adder start). Or no fuel left. Since basically everything other than repeated ECM seems to depend on both being present (and fuel injectors working). For shooting down a missile fired from relative close range (most of the time) with the re...

Re: TOS or Next Generation?
I'd contrarily vote for Voyager as it is the series discussing ethical questions the most, which is the core of Star Trek. For instance, they (of course) decide against capital punishment as in the rest of the Federation - not quite American, is it ?

Re: TOS or Next Generation?
As opposed to other SiFi, it has predicted some technical developments correctly though and still feels kind of modern. Especially flat touchscreens and tablet computers.ocz wrote:So go and watch TNG. It's good for you. (Even though, it hurts to admit it, but as a SciFi show, it has aged.)

This makes hermit markets more useful I suppose ?
Pirate cove could include it, as a compensation for making the search for normal rock hermits much more dangerous.

Re: Parcel / passenger transport
All that's going to happen if I lost say 500kg of platinum is that I either forfeit the contract and lose a little reputation or have to scramble to find enough platinum to replace it - the easy way is to take another contract, use platinum from that to make the original delivery, and keep buying m...

Re: Parcel / passenger transport
So, did I understand that right? Which contracts you can take (whether it's a cargo-, parcel- or passenger-contract) (how many are greyed out) depends on your fighting ranking and not on the individual contract reputation. As for parcel contracts it depends on both. Cargo contracts do not depend on...
