As the only other games I am playing are Tomb Raider usermades, I'd be one of them wackos probably installing such OXP. (I've not figured out WHY anyone would want such a dockable, but I've a feeling an Lara Croft-style quest would be interesting.) fixed 8) Heh! Thanks! The challenge is to ma...

Question regarding dockables
Hi, I'm feeling particularly sick, twisted and evil today, so am looking at designing a dockable where the pilot has to navigate a maze inside the ship to reach the part where they can actually do the docking. (I've not figured out WHY anyone would want such a dockable, but I've a feeling an Indiana...

Re: Space Dredgers ??!!! What is that...

I mean these ominous SPACE DREDGERS and GENERATION SHIPS What are these Ships??. Are there existing Pictures of these Ships ? I did...

Testing results
Just want to say that Oolite 1.65 crashes frequently under Vista but 1.7 test appears to be solid. I've encountered no obvious bugs so far with 1.7 test on the Vista platform.

Mission: Extremely Difficult - Elite for the Blind
I've been asked for something that might very well be impossible to achieve. This goes a bit beyond even the crazier projects I've been involved with. Basically, the challenge I've been given is this: to determine if it is possible to develop an add-on for Oolite that would allow someone who is blin...

In either case, I hereby petition the GalCops to classify the originating offender as a Fugitive, but would still like to know if the tr...

Hmmm, interesting proposition - as a generally all round nice guy it wouldn't affect me (accept when I accidently blow up everything when I ALT+TAB to change screens and detonate my energy bomb at the same time). Or when you forget to sell contraband and launch yourself out into the ether (or whate...

Suggestion from The Dark Wheel
In the original novel, the heroes docked at a cargo ship that was doubling up as a hidden space station sans cargo (just had equipment). In the original manual, some asteroids had hermits living on them. In both cases, there were places to dock, repair (and hide) that were outside of the standard sp...

Size of Liberator
The craft was clearly visible from the ground at night (I would say probably about the same brightness as Venus in real-life) at 1000 spacials from the surface. At this distance, it was geostationary on Earth-sized planets, so it is fair to assume that 1000 spacials is the same as Earth's geostation...

Hmmm. That's an idea.
A mission could be to send an assassin or a bioweapon to a specific planet. In line with the original Elite - where missions required you to visit two specific planets in sequence in order to complete - you might even pick up someone from one planet, go to another planet that sells the materials the...

Ok, a variant on the idea
Ermm..........consults log tables and slide rule...........I think Giles has set limits on what you can unload, the upper limit a planet can hold of gold, platinum and gemstones for example is 127kg per item. (sits down and waits for the experts to say what really happens) We do like  &quo...

Re: Starting a new game with a weaker ship ?
Are you insane  Mind you saying that I've tried playing one handed with one eye shut and my shoelaces tied together, so join the club! Yes. BTW, lasers of strength 1 (1/16th the power of a pulse) were so weak that the shields on cargo canisters replenished faster than the lasers could dama...

Bankrupting or destabilizing planets?
 Warning: Seriously twisted idea  In theory, it would be possible to ship enough goods of a given kind to a planet to completely wreck havoc with its stability and/or economy. This would be extremely rare and could not occur accidentally. I'm picturing three possible contingencies ...
