RIP Ursula. I very much enjoyed the earthsea stories when I was a kid, but had no idea she also wrote Sci-fi. Maybe I have to look it up.
I remember when Harry Potter came out, and I was like: " this is kids stories. Read about Sparrow Hawk. HE is a REAL wizard!"

Re: Space Travellers Guild
Hopefully no one tries to put a lawsuit on me for using "Space Traveler", or "Travelers Guild" or "Space Guild" or "Space". (NASA, I'm looking at you on the last one...) I remember I tried to find something that wasnt really used by anyone, and still had...

Re: Space Travellers Guild
If I may... Space Travellers Guild You've got the English spelling here, but your site/game has the American variant - Travelers. Being English, this caught my eye. Just curious... It came most natural to me to have it the english way (double L), so I started out by that, but working in online mark...

Re: Space Travellers Guild
Well, more than a year has passed, and I havent really made any progress, except in the summer vacation (weather was pretty bad in Denmark this year). So I changed platform to android, and did a bit of programming... Anyway, just made a website for it, and uploaded the latest version (which isnt rea...

Re: How do you change the FOV?
I mentioned the issue with the "low" FOW with multiple monitor setup a while ago, and iirc a nice value would be up to 160 degrees for a 3 monitor setup. The issue with the ship showing only happens with a single monitor setup when its up there, so my suggestion is to either to just allow ...

Re: UK TV license Is it worth the Adds
Here in Denmark its a 200kr/month per household fee. It has changed from being TV+Radio requirement only to "Everything that can connect to Air-Radio/TV and Digital Radio/TV/internet", so basically if you have an ancient nokia telephone which supports FM radio if the headphone is plugged i...

Re: Velerian and the City of a Thousand Planets trailer
Looks like Luc Besson has made another SF film, based on a comic which I know nothing about. Standard Besson tropes, visually stunning and stylish but some bits look a bit silly. Though that doesn't stop me liking 5th Element for the sheer silliness of it... https://youtu.be/IErqOmxR8x8 This comic ...

Space Travellers Guild
Hey guys. I started making my own spacesim, and thought I'd let you know. http://www.moddb.com/games/space-travelers-guild Its not really a competitor to Oolite as to get to same stage it requires years of development (Im the only dev). Also wanted to ask: if models are opensource in oolite, can I b...

Re: Floating point origin
ah ok, thought there was a problem with scale in oolite. Wasnt there a rescaling project at one point to make ships smaller so the planets seemed bigger?

Floating point origin
Oolite really have some nice things going, but one of the biggest issues (imho) is the very limited space (there is a sun and a planet, but they are not even close to "realistic" sizes/distances), and adding new planets causes quite a few issues with both rendering and distances as well. S...

Re: What are the planned changes for Oolite 1.86?
If you need inspiration for 1.86, you might take a look at Rodina https://elliptic-games.com/
Combining Oolite and Rodina would make one hell of a game imho
I really like the Gearing (and of course the planetary landings), while there is a number of things Oolite does much better.

Re: My joystick setup - what do others do?
You both should be punished by having to play the original Elite for 6 months! FYI I have played the original Elite back in 1986 on my Amstrad 6128 when I was 10 year old. I prolly played more than 6 months, though I do recall starting over again and again because I got killed all the tim...
