Re: Tales from the spacelanes...

I must say this game is much easier to play with a flightstick than an Xbox controller. I was depending way to much on yaw control, and this stick won't let me do that. So I've had to relearn how to fly, but I'm liking it. Plus, I can dock faster than the computer; important for keeping on schedule....

Re: Tales from the spacelanes...

So, after a year and a half hiatus (for reasons I still don't know), I thought I'd take the Mark III out for a spin. I misplaced my previous controller, so I get myself an inexpensive Thrustmaster to use. I also decide to add some Dockable OXPs to make things more interesting (I don't use many OXPs,...

Re: Elite: Dangerous - and 'Magic Potions'

4000 AD - a good way to waste a few days/weeks/months! I owned that game. Played it once. Couldn't find anyone to play it. And the guy I played it with once wasn't interested in playing it again. I eventually sold it to our local game store for store credit. I haven't checked to see if he made any ...

Core Game Dev Environment

Hi, (First off let me say that I didn't know which forum this belonged in, so feel free to move it if necessary.) Ok, for those who do development on the core game, what dev environment (IDE/compiler/etc) do you use? Are you doing this on Windows? Mac? Linux? I may have an opportunity to teach a cla...

Re: Tales from the spacelanes...

Got my first kills today! (Well, not counting the ones who had friends who made sure I didn't live to tell about it) It seems as though the Violet Star has turned into a package courier. I look for high paying, long but not too long routes to let me see the galaxy, trading computers and furs along t...

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous

I'm probably waiting until the official release comes out. So it'll be a while before you see me out there. But I do hope to run into everyone when I do.

Re: What else did we play when Elite was king?

Somehow I missed the first three incarnations of Elite (shocker, I know), but the first computer we had in the house growing up was a TRS-80 (Model 1 - Level 2) and I remember spending much time playing Pyramid 2000 (text adventure) and Invasion Force (Trek 80 clone, I think). In the early/mid 90 on...

Re: Introduce Yourself.

Hi, I'm Howard, and very new to Oolite, and space games in general (which surprises a great number of people who know me!). I only found out about it a year ago by looking for free sci-fi books on iTunes and came across Drew's Oolite Saga (which I just finished rereading this past weekend), and I on...
