To Neelix: no harm done, and as this is my first oxp the technical info is quite useful.
Thanks also to Norby for the suggestions. I have a new version almost ready to go. It should be ready by the end of the weekend.

Re: Comms log MFD
Hmmm... interesting. It would complicate the log function a touch, but perhaps with these options: Modes: 1. Scroll back (default when scroller is primed) 2. Scroll forward 3. Return to current 4. View oldest 5. Clear log Plus, if I put a timer in after (for example) 2 minutes, if no further scroll ...

Re: Comms log MFD
You could perhaps go for a round-robin approach instead.. once the array is full, each new entry causes the oldest entry to be dropped. It's basically like a circular buffer that never gets larger over time. That's essentially what I'm doing with the log size limit. It drops messages off as new one...

Re: Comms log MFD
Version 1.1 has now been released. Link added to first post. New in this version: - Scrolling by message, rather than by line (can be changed to line by line if you change a setting) - Better handling of local variables - Fixed the name of the MFD used to be consistent with the OXP name - Log is kep...

Re: Comms log MFD
If the log keeps growing, it might be useful to offer the option of clearing the log manually. Ideally this would be available in-flight as well as docked. Any suggestions on the best way of achieving this?

Re: Comms log MFD
If the log keeps growing, would it be useful to include some form of separator? For instance, each time the player docks and launches, include Docked with Lave station. Launch clearance received from Lave station. That way, when you're scroll back through pages of messages, it's clearer where you we...

Re: Comms log MFD
OK, here's a Box.com download for the Comms Log MFD.oxz! https://app.box.com/s/rhhtuldcnuubz05ep40h I'd appreciate any feedback and comments, bug reports, anything really. And please let me know if I've done things the wrong way internally! Edit: I did alter the final version of the OXZ. I decided t...

Re: Comms log MFD
So I now have a working OXZ ready for testing. What's the approved method for distributing these sort of things?

Re: Comms log MFD
The MFD will work without the scroller. It would always display "Current" at the top, and new messages would keep getting appended to the bottom of the list. You'd only need the scroller to, you know, scroll.
And "COMMS LOG" now fixed.

Re: Comms log in a MFD
A question about the "setMultiFunctionText" function. In the docs it states "The limit on space for a multi-function display is ten lines of text, each 15 blocks wide." What is a "block", and how is it measured?

Re: Problem with "shipWillLaunchFromStation" event.
Found something. It appears to be some sort of caching issue. I renamed the folder my OXP is in, and suddenly everything started working!
So, next question (and I know I've seen the answer to this somewhere), how do you force Oolite to clear this cache (or whatever it is)?
