Re: Oolite in a Docker container

Thanks Commander_X,

That didn't work...but...glxgears in a container *is* something that (according to Google at least) others have got working.

So I have a few blogposts to work through.

Re: Oolite in a Docker container

OK, I'm running Docker on a Mac (Mojave 10.14.6). I have XQuartz installed as Xserver (see https://sourabhbajaj.com/blog/2017/02/07/gui-applications-docker-mac/) I have pushed the image I created to Dockerhub if anyone cares to reproduce: https://hub.docker.com/repository/docker/crush157/oolite Dock...

Oolite in a Docker container

Hi, I'm trying to run Oolite in a Docker container (don't ask). I'm using Ubuntu as my base image. I have installed the 1.90 release into the image, but when I try to run it I keep getting tripped up by missing shared libs. The latest one has me stumped, because it's missing ALSA libs, which accordi...

Re: JavaScript / Emscripten

What we want is a full rewrite of oolite in HTML5/WebGL. ... Also, it so happens that a WebGL online course will begin in a few days on coursera: https://www.coursera.org/course/webgl I've done some playing about with Three.js, but currently have limited bandwidth due to day_job && small_ch...

Re: JavaScript / Emscripten

Oops! My bad. I had a brain fart - of course Oolite is written Objective C.

JavaScript / Emscripten

Has anyone got any idea how practical it would be to port Oolite to JavaScript?

Emscripten (and others) will apparently compile C++ to JavaScript, and as I would like to be able to play Oolite on my ChromeBook, this seemed a possible route.

Re: Combat balance - 1.80 and 1.82

I find the combat balance in 1.80 really quite unfriendly, especially as someone who tries to grab a quick few minutes here and there, which means using the keyboard (<aside> if anyone knows of a little full featured joystick that will fit easily on a laptop bag for use on the go, please tell me </a...

Re: Maybe I'm just old and slow...

No, I'm finding 1.80 a right pain in the posterior. I can either do milk runs (yawn) or die horribly.

I posted in more detail on the other thread http://oolite.aegidian.org/bb/viewtopic ... 45#p226115

I know, just years of running projects on a shoestring have left me with a horror of unnecessary costs (even in an imaginary business) ;-)

Solar Horizon

Prior to 1.80 my refuelling technique was to head straight for the sun until mass locked then level off and fly straight at the solar horizon. Worked just fine - full fuel tanks and away just fine. With 1.80 I can't see where the damned horizon is 'cos the sun is too damned fuzzy. Any suggestions (o...

I was just musing about this again on the way home - I don't think you should be able to clean your legal record by ejecting either.

Re: OXZ's - which directory to sync?

Well, I'm synching the AddOns folder already, so it's just a case of clearing out the old OXPs (now done).

And yes you're right, I was mentally parsing string to float "1.80".to_f => 1.8
