Re: Thargoid Wars
I managed to sneak a save in between 2 of these looping attacks just now, and it is showing that mission_thargoidwars_station_attack is set to "POSSIBLE". This has left me wondering if the code in lines 171-175 of thargoidWars.js is completely right, but as I am an innocent in the ways of...

Re: Why is Oolite so addictive?
And part of the fun is when random events combine to create something epic you just couldn't script. Such as today's "Battle of Hermit Rock" - 3 Rock Hermits in a cluster, although the middle one was a Pirate Cove. An escorted Anaconda wanders in & then the tussle starts dragging in an...

Re: Let's Play Oolite
Nice set of OXPs there, but surprised to see Your Ad Here not included - those extra trading opportunities can really help out a new Jameson (assuming you are going to start all fresh faced & eager with your Cobby III and pocket change). Nice eye-candy too

Re: Pylons and what you carry?
My current loadout is a pair of fuel tanks, packet of chaff & the rest being Intercept Missiles (yep, overblessed with pylons atm - only carried the one fuel tank when in my Llama). Missiles were chosen mainly as they are the ones I find most irritating when fired at me so I like to repay the co...

Re: (NEW RELEASE)(UPDATE)ShieldEqualizer+Capacitorv1.3.oxp
Nice pieces of equipment these, definitely useful for "into the thick of it" engagement techniques while not making you bulletproof. One tweak I have made to the copy I downloaded is to (unless I misread the code) launch with the capacitors fully charged. While the in-game rationale for la...

Re: Planet Hopping...
If you just mean "don't refuel at the main station" then I think it is fairly standard operating practice when you are making a >7 LY dash, especially if you have a trunk full of guns & drugs & hos 8) . If you mean "glitching your way closer to a planet" then I didn't eve...

Re: Thargoid Wars
May as well bump this thread to keep everything pertinent together  I seem to be having a weird problem with the Station Attacks in TWs, they keep getting stuck in a loop. So the alarm sounds, I scramble, thargoids get killed, I redock (in the same station to finish off whatever I was up to in...

Re: Why is Oolite so addictive?
I've got to say that the work folk have put into the AI gives Oolite that edge over Elite (was always more of a Frontier fan, anyway  ). Because you only get to see what the ships get up to, it's pretty much impossible not to find yourself fleshing out the stories from the cockpits. Yelling &q...

Re: Oolite 2: ship balance, starting conditions and death kn
I did something interesting with the ships that had some real cargo space. Minimum one passenger berth built in. It worked reasonably well so I set it up with most of the other ships. Instead of a large cargo bay option you would simply remove the passenger berths for more space. New players then h...

Re: Name that Anaconda!
Ahhh - too much time spent thinking of GSV names. How's about... "Big Boned" "It's Glandular" "Size DOES Matter" "Camel Docking" "Tectonic Sprinter" "Next stop the Himalayas!" "Turning Orbit" "Prime Mover" (kept thinking...

Re: [RELEASE] various ships
Small thing about the Hauler P30 - I wonder if the right version of it got included in the version 1.2 download Zip :? The readme suggests that it should be running BigShipAI, but it still seems to have route1traderAI in the shipdata.plist. Maybe the exhaust position mismatch is repaired in that ver...

I have to leap to Frontier's defense here - I loved the Newtonian flight mechanics and it is the main thing I miss in Oolite. Can't say I encountered too many of the bugs (I never even thought about using the wormhole glitch). Just picking on Sendraks post 'cause it was nicely laid out  Combat...
