I thought the extra cargo bay was an actual physical addition wielded on ton the ship, but if more exotic answers are required, I would go straight to the top. an Extra Cargo bay is actually a small machine which creates a pocket dimension inside the ship. This dimension allows you to hold extra stu...

Hi, First hit the F5 key and see what your status is. If it's Offender or Fugitive, then that's the reason. If it's Clean, then that's a weird bug. If it's Offender or Fugitive, then this is what I know about the legal system in Oolite. It's a pretty liberal universe out there, but there are some th...

What benefit would you get in return for the cost of a crew? A really big ship? There is an OXP that allows you to have escort. Maybe they could man small fighters docked in your big ship and provide backup in fights. Perhaps you can have them fire side or rear lasers using code similar to the plasm...

So I take it that from comments, that the Docking computer uses the in-game rules to try and dock. That by itself is pretty amazing. They could have taken the easy way out and just made Shift-D the only option. That's probably much easier to code. But they took the time to create a routine that actu...

Docking computer malfunction

Is there such a thing? I am docking with a constore using Shift-C. I switch screen to check out Facebook, I hear a boom, as if there's a collision, I think it's the ship hitting the side of the bay, unusual but I have seen it before. I switch back and the ship is not in the dock, it's still outside ...

Changing Compass letter for non techs

I have both the Casino and Constores OXP loaded and found that they both use the same letter ("C") for Constores and Casinos. This was a bit confusing. So I decided to see how hard it was to change the letter used. Turns out it's pretty easy. Say I want Casinos to be H instead of C (H for ...

The famous edible poet duo, Silbert and Gullivan wrote a wonderful homage, The Space Pirates of Zaonce. or a Slave to Bounty. Fredric, an apprentice to a band of Space Pirates, finds himself released from his indenture upon his 21st birthday and given his own Cobra. After finding that Ruth , the onl...

You have a pretty tight turning radius in a Cobra MKIII. I was able to turn 180 in a fuel station and go out the way I came in.

Some of the most useful things are simple

Newbies will be happy to know that you don't need to know how to code in order to contribute to Oolite. Recently someone (I sadly forgot who) posted a new sound for laser hits. It consists of just a sound file (ogg format) that gives a more scratchy sound to laser fire that hits something vs misses....

Ok, it's different than I expected. I thought it was a gate to from one system to another that is considerably more than 7yr away in one jump. It's from witchpoint to station.

(If anyone is interested in taking over the stuff I was working on - a new mission centred on a battle amid asteroids close to a sun, a new ship and realistic "traffic" to and from a station I designed - then PM me. I'm sure most of you have plenty of stuff to be getting on with already, ...
