Re: Visibility of other ships
Before messing too much with gamma settings & such, it might be a good ide to check out the black levels: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/black.php The other adjustment tests and tips may be good, but at least on my main 'monitor' (HDTV) I had to make compromises to retain acceptable sharpness, col...

Re: Quote of the week!
Although there's always the risk that, if Oolite came to be seen as an alternative, as opposed to a homage to the original (and to some extents an advert for E:D), then FD might be tempted to bring the hammer down on it. This is a valid concern. Hope it doesn't happen. Going to stash all Oolite-rel...

Trying to find the positive from that - some very special surprises are to be found in the Galaxy... Aye, some dangled carrots - there had to be! I see you have adopted 'the grey' too - cool! We stand between darkness and light, between candle and star - we are the grey ones... :) EDIT: the quote i...

Re: Split: Benchmark
Okay, I downloaded the test build (Trunk e855d90) and did a few tests. Found out that Oolite seems to be CPU-bound on my system, single core performance matters most. How did I arrive to that conclusion? I left GPU-Z recording sensor readings in the background, and did a few tests with the task mana...

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous
<nods happily> Yeah, Oolite sure looks sweet on my new machine - even at 199fps (though the tearing is too irksome - I need a new 144Hz monitor). Just use Vsync & Triple buffering (may have to force one or both in the Nvidia control panel), Oolite looks silky smooth & sweet even on a HD TV....

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous
Hello fellow Ooliteers! I thought I'd create a private group in E: D for us. The aim is to do whatever everyone pleases, and still have a (small) chance of coming across a familiar Commander, say "Hi" & move on. Or maybe do a bit of exlorig / smuggling / mining / whatever together for ...

True that.ffutures wrote:Tried it for a while, but nostalgia trip aside I really don't want to play it again. Oolite is infinitely better!
And if I want a nostalgia trip, I start the real thing on my C64 (or emulator).
