And a consistent Ooniverse (System X always has 2 planets and 5 moons, the second planet is a gas giant etc.) would allow for much greater variety of missions.

These chatty fellows are usually hanging around the jump points, and I usually just ignore them. However, just recently I was carrying a passenger who DID want transportation to the main station, but I couldn't work out how to interact with the rickshaw guy. How do I transfer my passenger to him?
